Everything was good

A really great, well managed establishment. The rooms were spacious and clean. Everywhere is so easy to walk to. Some good evening entertainment at the bar during our stay. And even with a church (complete with bells!!!) right outside our window nothing spoiled our stay in this beautiful hotel. If you go be sure and visit the beach along Kalimera Kriti... only a 15 min walk. And have a cold beer in The Cactus Pub. However, the real USP of this place is the staff. They are all really friendly, helpful and more than happy to help. Super, super nice people. If I can I will return to this hotel one day... preferably soon.

And so our second stay is drawing to an end. It is rare for us to go to the same place twice so will we make it a third time? I really hope so! As before and the reason we have returned is down to not only the fantastic hotel in a great location but also the fantastic staff. Yes the hotel is spotlessly clean, the facilities are excellent and beautiful and the food is to an extremely high standard but our real thanks are to the staff, all of them and with a special mention to Jordan, Maria and Spyla. Thank you everyone at the hotel for making our stay so wonderful, you ALL make us feel really welcome, I expect we will return!

This was our 4th visit to Castello Boutique Hotel and Spa, we always visit early May to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary (48 yrs this time!)and we got a wonderful welcome from all the staff on arrival with a nice cool refreshing drink in reception and an invitation to join them on Easter Sunday for the Easter Feast. When we were shown to our room, we were amazed to find rose petals everywhere and a towel sculpture of two swans kissing on the bed! There was also a platter of fresh fruit, a bottle of wine, sweet pastry’s and a mini bottle of raki plus information on the hotel and spa. It was a lovely surprise. Our room was spacious with a lovely balcony overlooking the beautiful swimming pool. The bathroom was fantastic with 2 washbasins and a huge double shower with constant hot water and we also had very efficient air conditioning, which we were very glad to have on hot days. The cleaning ladies were fantastic, even though we were late risers, they came in each day, changed the bedding and towels and left the room looking beautiful, so nice to come back to. All the staff at Castello Boutique Hotel are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. I cannot comment on the food as we ate out at the many lovely tavernas in Sissi and we never got up in time for breakfast. We did join in the Easter Feast which was buffet food and an amazing display of traditional Greek Dancing which we really enjoyed watching. This is a great hotel for couples who like peace and quiet and really good facilities with friendly staff and management.

Home from another (our third) wonderful stay in Castello Boutique Hotel. As already mentioned in previous reviews by guests, this hotel is exceptional in its attention to comfort and relaxing atmosphere thanks to Dimitri the manager and his wonderful staff. The fact so many guests are repeat visitors speaks volumes and it’s the first hotel we’ve found that we look forward to a returning stay. From the spotlessly clean rooms; the delicious choices at breakfast buffet where Maria and Spyla (sisters, always smiling) appear with choice of coffees or teas; the beautiful pool by the amply stocked bar; the evening drinks usually served by Sam ‘barman extraordinaire’; to the helpful receptionists - this hotel has it all! Sissi is still a relatively unspoilt village, but with plenty restaurants and tavernas to discover and strolling down to the harbour to watch the sun set is simply a joy. We will return again soon, so until then friends, thanks to you all for making our holiday so memorable.

We had 10 great days here. Booked a junior suite with private a pool, more than enough room for a couple. Bed was so comfortable that we had no trouble sleeping and the air conditioning was perfect and pretty quiet. The small fridge was handy for water and wine. Breakfast was a choice of hot and cold buffet, all to a high standard. We didn’t eat at the hotel in the evening as we had already planned to eat at the numerous restaurants around sissi. Bar snacks during the day are available and quite plentiful. As with previous reviews, what makes this hotel a pleasure to stay at is the staff. The ladies on reception always smiling, the breakfast/restaurant and bar staff, the cleaner. Special mentions to Spyla who looked after us at breakfast with a smile, Maria who seemed to work everywhere and served the best iced coffee and Sam head barman who served us up plenty of cocktails as we worked our way through the menu (Yamas). My partner had a deep tissue massage at the spa which she said was wonderful and made such a difference to the tension in her shoulders thanks to Fotoyla and comes highly recommended if you stay here. We were sad to leave mostly because we felt like we were leaving friends behind, but we will most certainly be back in 2025. Thank you to all the wonderful staff. John & Amanda room 103.

Hotel - the hotel itself is nice and clean. The pool area is spotless. We had a swim up suite and I cannot fault the room, the pool or the staff in this hotel. We really enjoyed our stay and our room - if it wasn’t for the swim up room we opted for, we don’t feel this hotel would have been for us. The staff are so friendly and helpful, always greeting you with a hotel and the gentlemen who works on reception through the night is great. When we arrived he helped us to our room and explained where to go in the area and the things we should see during our visit - very informative! We also went half board but the restaurants in Sissi are so incredible we didn’t use the hotel dinner so i cannot give an opinion on this. The all day snacks around the pool are nice though. Decent drinks prices and not much more expensive than other places in the village. Shop next door so you can get snacks and drinks for your room or they do offer a menu so you can have your mini bar stocked but this was around €2.50 per drink whereas the shop next door was obviously cheaper. They do offer room service until 11pm and as we arrived at 1am they had a sandwich, fruit and a pastry waiting for us on arrival which is always appreciated. Negatives (and yes they are minor but I want to give honest feedback): Breakfast - for a 5* hotel I don’t think the breakfast was very good. Toast, eggs and Greek yoghurt was the best of a bad selection. For half of our stay we chose to eat out as the food was better elsewhere. Biggest negative - the late check out facilities. We asked if we could keep our room on and we couldn’t but they explained showers / changing facilities are provided and that was fine until we saw the facilities. They smell horrendous, no loo roll in the toilet, everyone else’s leftover bottles of shampoo and shower gel etc all over the floor. Floor was soaking wet, the light doesn’t stay on so you can end up showering in the dark but most bizarre of all, they don’t have locks on the doors. I wouldn’t have minded paying to have an actual room for the day, sadly the hotel was full but these late check our facilities really are subpar for the standard of this hotel! They also offer things like a turndown service and water in the minibar everyday which they don’t actually provide, again not a big issue. Oh church starts Sundays at 530am so embrace the wake up call, it lasts until about 10 and it is LOUD!

This was our 4th holiday at the Castello but the first since Covid. We were worried that things might have been different but were delighted to find that it was even better than before if that is possible! We had a beautiful room overlooking the church and the pool which was kept spotlessly clean by Eleni - even though we were very late risers she always managed to clean the room before we returned. The pool was sparkling if a little chilly and the pool area and bar were a great place to read our books and relax over delicious lunches and very tempting Greek wines. Sam the bartender was a great host and always made us feel so welcome. The evening entertainment was excellent, especially the young violinist, and the breakfasts and dinners in the restaurant were all of a very high standard. But as before the biggest attraction was the staff. They were friendly, kind, professional and helpful - nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a family emergency when we were away and Sam and Spyla were so kind and concerned for us and very supportive. All the staff are stars but Spyla, Sam and Eleni were the brightest ones. Thank you all for making our holiday so enjoyable in spite of our problems at home.

My wife and I loved this hotel. The location was excellent and within an easy walk of some fabulous traditional Greek restaurants. The hotel was smart, modern and really clean. The staff attentive, polite and friendly. The resort centered around the communal bar area with Sam (head barperson) a joy to be around. What did we learn? and if we went back at that time of year what would we do differently?. Private transfer is a must. Flights arriving from Newcastle are late with a two hour transfer. Being at the end of the transfer train and with the UK time difference we felt it worth taking the transfer as the cost of the coach is deducted from the holiday price. Even then you do arrive at the hotel in the early hours. Although the hotel food is nice it is expensive compared to what you can get within a five minute walk. And not that traditional albeit I believe they do have future plans for more traditional nights. At our time of stay some couples had booked rooms with a private pool. Unnecessary. At this time of year the hotel pool was too cold to use and as a consequence so were the individual ones. The nicest rooms were on the front overlooking the church and above the pool area. Although our room with a mountain view was nice if we were to return that is where we would book. Trips booked with Jet2 provided better value than provided locally or by taxi. Taxis are very expensive. We went to Knossos and Spinalonga. Both good trips. The test is always would you go back and we would, however there is a caveat. A lot of building work ongoing in this resort and if we were to go back it would be sooner rather than later. I have a feeling that the new hotels being built will change Sisi's very authentic Greek charm and I'm not sure that's a good thing.
