Environment: Mabu Island is a large island. Many certified divers live on the island. There are more than a dozen hotels on the island. It is a 40-minute boat ride from the town. There are some primitive Bayao villagers on the left and right sides of the hotel. Hotel: There are townhouses and two towers, and the accommodation facilities are pretty good. Catering: The hotel provides three buffet meals a day, which is enough to fill you up. There are Bajau people selling seafood on the beach, and the hotel can process it. Summary: I went there before the Chinese New Year. The hotel price was around RMB 3,000 per night, which was considered average value for money at the time. There was a pick-up and drop-off service, but the disadvantage was that there was construction nearby that affected the experience.

The hotel is ok, but nothing to write home about. The standard room (C), has squat toilets. We upgraded to B (with western toilet) and it was perfectly fine and clean when we checked in. However, it was not cleaned during our stay (5N) and only the last afternoon did they ask if we wanted it cleaned... unnecessary at that point. Often 3-5 of the staff would be sleeping across tables/outside guest rooms and we had to step over them... a bit weird to collapse like that, when rooms were not even being cleaned! We also did not appreciate staff smoking in the restaurant, right in front of a no-smoking sign. Smoke goes into the rooms with windows in that direction, not great when you have asthma! Had to tell one guy several times (and get upset) before he stopped smoking there. The main cook, receptionist and the bar guy were very nice and really did their best. The food was bland and repetitive, the fish dry and the chicken was only gizzards (necks), not something western tourists enjoy, as there is barely any meat, they contain a lot of bones and are tough/chewy. Granted, the hotel mainly caters to the Chinese tourist market. We asked for food without onions because of allergies, but they didn't seem to understand. We got all our food cooked separately... but with onion!? After a few days they finally got it, as we showed them which pieces in our food we can't eat. They tried their best, but also always cooked our food early and put it out an hour or more before we came to eat... it was always cold. Luckily they do have a microwave. We appreciated the fresh water melon after dinner and the fact that they had filtered water for refilling yourself. There are aquariums in the dining area and also some fish trapped in a net between the rooms. It is very dirty and sad. I think someone heard me commenting on it, since a guy started to clean the aquariums, but only the front, so the fish can be seen. The rest of the tanks were covered in algae, as was the vegetation in them. It all looks really bad, not great if you want to impress Europeans. We appreciated our dive guide. He was good and speaks English. The equipment worked, but has seen better days... If you are an experienced diver, ask early on to go only with others who are as well. For our first dive, a guy in our group (AOW certified, but had maybe 10 dives) used all his air in under 30 minutes. Luckily, our dive guide split the group afterwards. We kind of knew what Mabul Paradise would be like, after looking at the pictures and reading the reviews. It is a basic place, catering to the Asian market, with very basic food and therefore it's cheaper than places on the other side of Mabul. If you want to be close to Sipadan, it is an affordable place. Side notes (not comments on the hotel): 1. June is the worst month in the area, as visibility is not great. We saw lots of turtles and other great stuff, but it's not easy or cheap to get here, so rather go when the chances are greater to have good visibility, especially if you intend on going to Sipadan. We had two good dives there, but they do not make our top ten list, due to bad visibility. It would've been amazing otherwise. The hotel does not have their own permits, you go with a company from the mainland, who pick up at Mabul at 9:30. Visibility is best early mornings and apparently you're also more likely to see shark action early. The company was perfectly fine, no complaints really. It's just good to know that others, who have their own permits, start at 6:00. You can book your Sipadan dives with them, even if you stay at Mabul Paradise. These dive shops also do 60 min dives, not only 45 min, that the company we went with claimed was max. 2. There is a lot of plastic and other garbage all around Mabul. It is not a pretty island, but still much better than staying in Semporna. You'll see garbage while snorkelling/diving. Please help with cleaning up while doing so!

Crystal Water House, sitting on the charming jelly sea, has a clean and hygienic environment. The water house rooms are beautifully decorated, and the blue sea and sky can be seen through the windows, making people feel like they are in a dream world. Here, you can also snorkel for free and experience the beauty of the underwater world. The owner of the water house is hospitable and attentive, and will also provide professional snorkeling guidance. Although my partner and I were injured during the trip because we are not good at water, the owner of the water house thoughtfully bandaged our wounds and treated them properly. All in all, this is a very good place worth recommending. The Crystal Water Villa in Semporna, Malaysia, boasts a charming jelly sea, a clean and hygienic environment. The villa's rooms are beautifully decorated, and the windows overlook the blue sea and sky, making people feel as if they are in a dream world. Here, you can also enjoy free snorkeling and experience the wonders of the underwater world. The villa owner is warm and hospitable, providing attentive service and professional snorkeling guidance. Although my partner and I were injured due to our lack of proficiency in swimming during the trip, the villa owner kindly bandaged our wounds and handled them properly. In short, this is a great place worth recommending.

Overall I enjoyed our stay in sky water villa. When I was booking I read the reviews also worried that they are a bit old, so that the houses might not be well maintained. But during my stay I feel like the houses are used but still in okay manner. The best thing for this hotel is that I think they have the best house reef, and you can see turtles at night from your balcany. I went snorkling a few times during my stay I saw quite a few clown fish aka nemo and many fishes and even a sea eel one day. They also provide “galss” kayak which you can watch sunset on it. And the best thing they offer is that the tours you book with the villa starts around 10 am, you can just get ready and wait in your room, and when the boat is here the staff will get you from your room, and you’ll finish the tour around 3-4 pm which is the afternoon tea time at the villa. Instead of in the town area you need wake up early and meet and wait at the jetty around 8:15 am . And power supply is stable just may be ocassion blackout but it would turn back on very soon. However I do think they need to clean their air con as the one in our room seems very dusty, we had to clean the filter ourselves, they were very dusty. And during the afternoon coz our villa faces the sunset direction the air con feels a bit not strong enough. And the aircon outer unit is installed right at the room’s wall so it’s a little bit noisy, I’d suggest why not just use a more powerful window unit instead. The food is so so, but it’s difficult to cater everyone’s preference for food. The hotel is not cheap and maybe not very cost effective compare to hotels in other places, but to be fair i think if you want to go to semporna, this might be a reasonable option as overall semporna and malaysia is very expensive for tourists. And i higly recommend to stay at least 2-3 nights instead of 1 night to fully enjoy and relax yourself.

To be honest more than expected. We communicated with the store via email in English and picked us up on time. The round trip for two people cost 200 in total. The room was okay, the view was pretty good. It includes three meals a day, breakfast is average, lunch and dinner are delicious, and you can eat crab every time. The store staff are very nice and try their best to speak Chinese.

⭐3 nights in a tent room ⭐Transportation: A separate resort. From Tawau Airport, you first go to the resort and then to the town. There are several shuttle buses to the town every day. The boss will coordinate the time and arrive in 17 or 18 minutes. It is very convenient. The air conditioner in the car will be turned on in advance. Good reviews! ⭐Environment: There are many palm trees and various flowers and plants in the resort, as well as a small pond and several friendly dogs. They are all single-family wooden houses and tent rooms. It feels like a vacation, much better than the town! The bedding is clean, the room is large, the air conditioning is powerful, and the sleep is very comfortable. You can hear the insects at night, and you will see little squirrels if you are lucky. There is a puppy security guard at the door every night to accompany us to sleep, which is very safe. The boss said that they have marked the territory haha. ⭐Details: The room is fully equipped with toiletries, and there are also washing powder + bucket + clothes rack at the door, as well as a separate laundry room (washing machine + dryer). ⭐The boss is from Shunde. It can be seen that he is very attentive in the business. He basically does everything himself inside and out, and the overall experience is very good. The boss said on the day I left that the place was still under expansion. I look forward to having the opportunity to stay here again in the future!

Is nice hotel, just close the bathroom door otherwise a ugly smell will enter the room! They have washing machine with dryer wich is great! but then you can also hang your clothes outside in the balcony, the staff are friendly. Main area is a bit depressing, they could make it look a bit more cozy so people can sit there and chat.

The service is super good, the Chinese boss is easy to communicate with, the room has everything you can think of, there are a lot of hangers, you can dry clothes after diving, there are several cars on standby at any time in the homestay, and you can pick up and drop off at any time in 10 minutes to the town. You can bring seafood back for processing. I like the taste of spicy crabs very much 😘 It feels better than the taste of the hotel in town. I lie by the pool and daze all night... By the way, when I was having breakfast, I saw the waiter wiped the self-service counter several times, keeping it clean at all times, which is great! It is much better than the hotel in town. You must be clean when you go out! Next time I come to Semporna, I will stay at their house again~ This is a heartfelt evaluation, not a babysitter

Depart from the pier, take a speedboat, and there will be local children carrying luggage to the boat. It will take about 25 minutes to reach the water house. The sea breeze blows gently along the way, and it feels so comfortable. When I arrived at the water house, I was pleasantly surprised as soon as I entered the house. The facilities in the house are so complete, air conditioning, hot water supply equipment and facilities are all available, and the layout is warm. The bathroom is also clean, without any odor, and the bath towels are snow-white, which is comfortable to look at. After putting the luggage, the room has a separate balcony. The sea water around the water house is clear and you can clearly see the fish. You can see starfish lying slowly on the seabed when you look down, and there are groups of colorful small fish swimming around. The fish feel a little dull. . . . What satisfies me most is the food here. Just arrived in the afternoon, the staff told us that we can have afternoon tea from 15:00 to 16:00, small cakes, fruits, juice, while enjoying the sea view and eating desserts, I feel that all the fatigue has disappeared. The dinner was even more sumptuous, with a table full of seafood. The crabs were all fat, and when you peeled the shells, the crab roe flowed out, and the aroma was intoxicating. The squid and shrimp were also very fresh and bouncy. Paired with a few plates of refreshing and greasy blanched vegetables, the nutritional combination was perfect!!! I lived comfortably every day during these few days, and the staff was very friendly. Any needs could be solved immediately. This stay experience was really great. It is very suitable for couples to date or family vacations. I sincerely recommend it to everyone.
