The area in Porto Sharm itself was beautiful and felt safe. The guards were polite and kind, taking care of the area. The air conditioning worked well, and there was a beautiful balcony with a nice view. Hotel Evaluation - Private rental, not a hotel. - No internet access. - No towels provided. - No cooking utensils like pots/pans, knives, etc. There was cutlery and plates for 2 people. We were 4 people. - The kettle was defective, taped together, and gave a strong electric shock when we tried to use it, very dangerous. - Only bed linen and pillows were provided for the double bed. We had to use the mattress topper and duvet without bed linen on the sofa bed, and decorative pillows for the young people sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room. The bed and sofa bed were very hard. - We bought pillowcases to use on the decorative pillows from the living room to sleep with. We also bought sheets and bedspreads as the duvet was too warm. - No cleaning or offer of cleaning during the 10-day stay. The apartment was not clean from the start, with stains on the carpets, sofa, and walls. Dust and dirt in drawers and cabinets. Stains inside the refrigerator. - No satellite TV as advertised on the site, only a wall-mounted TV. - No information about electricity routines. The power was cut off before we were going on an excursion, the landlord came and turned the power back on and wanted money. Which we thought was okay, but it seemed very strange since we were not informed about it. - We did not get the entire deposit refunded because the landlord claimed he should be paid for a ride he gave us on the first day when we had to buy necessities like toilet paper, hand soap, and drinks. He refused to accept money that day but wanted it refunded on the last day. - The website advertised free drinking water. - We felt that the landlord wanted to sell us new services like excursions but was not very interested in providing the offer we had expected. We tried the beach associated with Porto Sharm, it was a deserted beach without sun loungers and full of garbage. - Far from the city center. We would have been satisfied if we hadn't found the advertisement very misleading (*******). Sharm el Sheikh is a beautiful place and highly recommended. If you plan to stay in Porto Sharm, you should be aware of the above things to avoid disappointment. We recommend renting a car to get around and getting an Egyptian SIM card quickly if you want internet access. Also, bring towels, hand soap, and bed linen if there are more than 2 people, and bring drinks from the airport. It is also worth mentioning that when taking a taxi, it should not cost more than around 250 Egyptian pounds / 5$. And those at the airport will try to scam you, but with some goodwill, you can pay around 400 Egyptian pounds because of the suitcases.
