Mango House, Seychelles, Lxr Hotels and Resorts

If you’re looking for a luxurious hotel with a relaxed feeling, this is the place to go. The views are simply stunning, especially from the main pool area. Rooms are big enough, the pool areas always have space and the staff is nice. The different restaurants offer everything from seafood to Japanese and Italian to burgers. Since it’s the Seychelles, you’ll be paying a lot for your lunch and dinner if you dine at the hotel (burger is $60). So prepare with a budget that goes beyond the room rates. We fell in love with the breakfast. You get to order small a la carte plates and everything was delicious. Probably the best hotel breakfast I’ve been to. We were promoted to make restaurant reservations through an LXR Concierge service beforehand but the staff at the hotel didn’t know anythint about it. So book the restaurants directly at the hotel. Also service at the pool was sometimes a little bit slow but otherwise the staff was great, especially at the breakfast and the nice little cocktail bar upstairs of the main building.

I am sitting in my beautiful room looking at the most beautiful view, reading a review from someone called Michael and hoping that I never meet him. This place is luxurious, laid-back and splendid. I arrived at 9.00am, was given a drink and was by one of three stunning pools by 10.00am. The staff could not be more willing to please and i am having a wonderful holiday.

Beautiful resort although very remote. Not good for kids. Very expansive food. Small but beautiful beach with good snorkeling opportunities. Clean rooms, small but great gym. Not the best service at the main desk but fabulous service in restaurants.

This is a phenomenal resort with such a beautiful yet intimate setting. A lush forest behind you and a dreamy ocean in front of you. The service is par excellence right from the welcome. The breakfast is superb and we ate at the Moutya for dinner which was a wonderful experience. Special mention of the staff Farheen, Bertrand, Elsa, Anna, Gillano,Deepak. But there were so many more that we interacted with who was so warm and gracious including Chaminda at the Gate and the lady in the Hijab

This was my second time at the Mango House Hotel in Seychelles, the first in October 2021, at which time I also posted a very positive review here about the hotel. There was fresh from the opening of the hotel. Based on very positive expirience, we visited the hotel again this year (2024. Unfortunately, it is with a painful heart that I cannot repeat what I wrote about the hotel 3 years ago. I would add that we have held diamond status in the Hilton hotel chain for years. Unfortunately, we did not feel we were treated this way from the arriving in the hotel. We were given a room close to the main pavilion, room number 24, with an entrance through the basement, dark and smelling of damp. The dampness was visible on the walls in the bathroom and room - see photos. Dust under the bedside lamps - the amount of it may indicate that it had not been removed for several weeks. We spoke to Iva (front desk manager??) repeatedly about the room's flaws, she even showed us 2 alternative rooms, which however were not much better at all. On the last day, to our surprise, Iva informed us with astonishment, she had received information from her supervisor that we were not satisfied with the room (!!!???). The situation took us completely by surprise. To be honest, we had hoped that, as a diamond member, the LXR hotel chain would plan for the arrival of guests with this status and book for them a room checked, cleaned and at least in good condition. Unfortunately, we got the impression that no one there thinks about it or plans for it. On the last (6th) evening during dinner, we were first approached by a woman who asked us about our impressions of her stay, GM? I don't know, because she didn't introduce herself. She was unimpressed by our comments. We got to know that she would talk to Iva, that's all. The standard of service, the interest of the guests by the management leaves much to be desired. The staff are left to their own devices, unsupervised. This is evident throughout the day and in every situation. And LXR hotels are all about the little things, about caring for the guest. This, by the way, was the case in 2021, under a different hotel management. Today, it's definitely not the standard of a 5* LXR-type hotel. As of today, my rating is 4*. It is a great pity, because the hotel is beautifully located, but for these less than 3 years it has been very neglected, technically and service-wise. A few specific comments: 1. Check-in: the staff did not greet us nice and firendly, gave us no information about the hotel, opening hours of restaurants, bars, absolutely NOTHING. The lady at reception only informed us that the system was currently down and that we should report to reception before dinner to sign the check-in form and pay the financial deposit. 2. I'm currently staying at the Mango House and wish I could prepone my check out. It has only been 1 night and 2 days since we checked in and we have faced so many issues. To start with, the hotel is extremely understaffed and takes very long to respond or support in planning your trip. We checked in and asked to join the Christmas Carols event and no one knew what this was, even though it was on all the brochures. There is no concierge and after being fed up of waiting to hear back from guest services, we had to head to the reception to ask for help on things to do. We ordered food to our room and while the hotel charges (quite a high fee) for room service, the food tray was completely wet with water seeping into the food because of the rain. Additionally, we asked for an HDMI cable twice and never received it. If they didn't have it, they could've said so, instead they said they'd send it but just never did. We also requested for an anti-allergy medicine, which we never heard back on and had to go to the reception to ask for once again. All in all, while majority of the hotel staff are indeed kind and trying their best, the service ends up being very poor given how understaffed the hotel is. With the price point it is at, definitely not worth staying here. Highly disappointed considering this a Hilton Hotel - we really expected better. In terms of the facilities, the hotel is quite small with a tiny beach and no access to water sports on the property. The hotel is definitely not equipped to manage the rainy season and some staff members are not even well aware of the facilities they offer (given that they are new, there is a clear lack of training).
