Chateau de Druon

Getting to Château de Druon was an adventure in errors ... GSM roaming not working ... getting lost on several occassions ... missing the sunset that we were looking forward to ... frustration. But ... when we did arrive ... we were wecomed by Elisabeth Ringenbach and her husband around 22:00. We stayed in the Empire Room with its commnding view towards the Pic du Midi d’Ossau. The grounds are welcoming and provide you with areas to sit, rrlax and enjoy the valley below. Thank you Elisabeth!!!

I very much wanted to like Chateau Druon. It has so much potential as a boutique, upscale hotel experience in the French Pyrenees. And if you don’t mind bugs (spiders, flies, ants, cobwebs), musty old towels, and other minor inconveniences such as a shower where you can’t fully stand up, then it may be the place for you. Perhaps you find the overgrown garden and brackish fountain charming, or the peeling paint on the chateau facade and whiff of cigarette smoke on the ornate marble staircase brings to life the decaying French grandeur you were seeking in your authentic Pyrénées vacation stay. By all means, this hotel was beautiful, unique, and charming in its own way. But for me, if the same attention to detail on the art and decor was applied to the minor and easily solvable issues like an exterior power wash, a room dusting/vacuuming, some new sheets and towels, a filter replacement in the bathroom vent, a landscaper, etc. then it would have been a more comfortable hotel stay instead of what felt like an unkempt rural French art museum.

L'accueil est remarquable, le petit déjeuner copieux et extra, la table d'hôtes raffinée, la chambre agréablement décorée est d'un grand confort tout est formidable ! Le château a beaucoup de charme, avec une superbe vue sur le Pic d'Ossau. Y séjourner est un vrai plaisir.

Un séjour super dans ce château , la nourriture est faite maison,locale et copieuse , un vrai délice . Nous remercions Elisabeth pour son accueil chaleureux, son partage sur l’histoire de la région mais également les bonnes adresses qu’elle a pu nous donner au long de notre séjour. Le château dont les chambres sont très bien entretenues et très propres ! Les chambres sont très confortables et nous y sommes bien au chaud (la température est réglable), et en plus nous avons une magnifique vue sur la montagne . Ce château est bien situé , a proximité de la station , des commerces et de la restauration. Nous renouvellerons cette expérience avec plaisir. Tout notre respect à Elisabeth pour son relationnel humain et l’entretien de ce lieu historique.

Que du bonheur dans une demeure superbement aménagée et décorée, avec une vue sur le pic du Midi. Elisabeth et Gilles sont charmants et leur accueil est remarquable. Les petits déjeuners dont excellents et Elisabeth concocte de savoureux plats. On se sent tellement bien au Château de Druon que l'on a pas envie d'en repartir et que l'on pense déjà à un prochain séjour.
