We spend roughly 30 days a year in 4 star hotels 1, 2 or 3 nights at a time in both Portugal and Spain. This has to be the best. Check in was quick and the gentleman on duty offered us valuable tourist information without having to ask. The room was well maintained comfortable and clean. We were taken to the room, rare these days. The restaurant in the evening was reasonably priced with a wonderful food and service. Better book it was busy. Breakfast was superior to any other hotel we have stayed in, the variety of fruit was exceptional, the pastries, local cheeses and meats plentiful. Eggs to order! Real coffee, not one of those horrible machines, dishes cleared as we used them not left to pile up. Very friendly staff. We can't wait to return and we will!

The hotel was centrally situated to start with. Close to amenities and cultural sites. Very clean and spacious rooms . The ambient temperature in the room was also perfect as it was relatively cold outdoors. Most of all, the staff were engaging and attentive . Followed by very good breakfast. I couldn’t fault them. Highly recommended!

What a wonderful place to stay, I had stayed here before with friends on a Moto Tour so knew what to expect, my expectations were surpassed, it’s a really lovely place to stay. On this trip I was with my wife, I had talked up Convento Da Serta before arrival and we both agreed the out of 9 good hotels on our Spain & Portugal Tour this was the best by far. * Chaves as a town has character, charm and is very pleasant to walk around. * Convento Da Serta, is in a prime position, elevated above the old town * There are good bars and restaurants within easy walking distance * The hotel itself is a charming and a very well adapted stone built Convent, there is a small pool, easy parking on site, the rooms are excellently appointed with good views over the town some have small private balconies all have Air Con. The staff are very attentive and both eager to please and keen to help you get the best out of your stay at the hotel and the area surrounding the town if you have time to explore. * Breakfast service was freshly prepared, presented well and staffed to cope with the demand, the food itself was very good. * The restaurant recommendations were spot on we chose one that was recommended it was lovely (see separate review, for Ponte Romano)

Beautiful place to stay, rivers either side, town short walk, plenty of places to eat. But polish up on your portugeuse for the resturaunts and town. Hotel was fine couple of people spoke English and they were very efficient. Lovely food. Pool a bit small but at the time we went not many people so it was fine.

Reception Adriane was excellent. Explained places to visit around area and was speaking good english and french. Breakfast was a delight. The setting is very good. Dinner was at the resturant next door / attached to hotel. The food and value was good. However, english speaking staff on the night was weak and we were served by 5 different waiters during our evening. So building good relationship was not easy. Motorcycle parking and car parking onsite was plentyful. Adriane made it all easy.

We happened upon this delightful, elegant hotel without a reservation in the middle of a strong rainstorm, bringing us off the highway. We were welcomed, given a close parking option, and were so pleasantly surprised at the impeccable decor, attention to detail in modern design, keeping the essence of the convent. Inez welcomed us the next day and gave us wonderful advice on our trip planning. This is a must-to-be explored area. Breakfast was delicious and we were able to have sandwiches packed for lunch for a very low charge.
