This place is absolutely beautiful and Armie, the lady who runs this place, is wonderful! We had dinner here both nights, and it was awesome. The breakfast is very good as well – cereal, yogurt, fruit, coffee, tea, freshly squeezed juices, eggs to order, cold cuts, etc. The only issues we would say, is that it's quite noisy when people are coming up and down the stairs and in the hallway; we were on the second floor (people could be more considerate and quieter if they wanted to). The other issue is the artwork on the walls - we found it very misogynistic and offensive. If you were in that room with children, it would be highly inappropriate. We took the pictures off the walls for our stay. Otherwise, a very nice place to stay, comfortable bed, good bathroom and shower, with great views of both the moorish castle and pena palace. It was also very convenient to get up to the sites as well as down to the town. We only wished we were staying longer 😊

I absolutely loved staying here. It's beautiful and so peaceful up in the hill. It has a large garden area and plenty of outside places to sit in. You have views of Pena Palace, which is lit up at night. Breakfast was lovely and evening meals are available upon request. The main tourist bus route stops outside the gate frequently. There is a very charming short walk through a footpath from here down to the town. You need to be of reasonable fitness to walk back up it. Otherwise there is the bus or uber taxis are very cheap. The host was lovely, nothing she wouldn't do for you, and she spoke English perfectly. As an anxious traveller, I felt relaxed and at ease here. A beautiful holiday, which I will remember forever.

We had a wonderful stay at Quinta Velha away from the hustle, beautiful 15 minute walkway to town in a beautiful nature path! The villa is beautiful and the service by the staff was extremely welcoming and warm. We enjoyed a delicious dinner by Army in the garden and breakfast was plentiful and good as well. We were a family of 6 and had a wonderful stay. We can highly recommend!

Lovingly restored traditional property in the Sintra hills on the road that leads up to Pena Palace and the Moorish Castle. We had a family room for 4 of us which worked well. The rooms are individually airconditioned. The house is so wonderfully quiet and serene. Armie hosts with pride, dedication and the biggest smile you've ever seen. Breakfast is a good start to the day and Armie bakes lovely cakes in the afternoon. We did not have dinner at Quinta Velha but it makes sense to eat there at night as there is no transport to take you back after dinner. You can always walk it which we did each night. Bring good walking shoes and prepare for A LOT of walking through Sintra and up and down from Quinta Velha. The tourist bus 434 stops outside Quinta Velha but costs €15 for the day and is not too frequent. We loved our stay at Quinta Velha.

We had a wonderful stay at Quinta Velha half way up the hill to Palaçio Peña and away from the hustle and bustle of old town Sintra! The historic villa is beautifully renovated and the service provided by the staff was extremely welcoming and warm. Our cottage near the pool was pristine, spacious, equipped for self-catering if one wanted to (including washing machine) and very quiet. We enjoyed a delicious dinner in the garden one night and breakfast was plentiful and good as well. Free parking on the property which is great as one really cannot use the car around town where the center as well as the road further up towards the palaces is forbidden to be used other than by locals and exempt tour operators. All around a wonderful stay and we can only highly recommend this establishment!

Für den 50. Geburtstag meiner Frau habe ich lange nach einem besonderen Ort gesucht – romantisch, ruhig, nur für uns zwei, irgendwo in Portugal. Mit der Quinta Velha habe ich einen absoluten Volltreffer gelandet. Ein besseres Hideaway hätte ich mir nicht wünschen können. Das Boutique-Hotel selbst ist ein kleines Juwel: stilvoll, charmant, mit viel Liebe zum Detail. Wir hatten (vermutlich) das schönste Zimmer des Hauses – mit romantischem Bett, verschnörkeltem Balkon und einem atemberaubenden Blick auf gleich zwei Sehenswürdigkeiten: das Castelo dos Mouros und den Palácio Nacional da Pena. Schon beim Aufwachen fühlt man sich wie in einer Postkarte. Die Umgebung ist ein Traum. Direkt am Hotel führt ein fast privater Waldweg (ja, sogar ausgeschildert!) zum vielleicht schönsten Garten der Welt: der Regaleira. Trotz der vielen Touristen in Sintra wirkt dieser Ort wie ein geheimer Rückzugsort – weitläufig, verwunschen, märchenhaft. Man kann sich dort stundenlang verlieren, fotografieren und staunen – in aller Ruhe. Doch was diesen Aufenthalt wirklich unvergesslich gemacht hat, war die herzliche Gastgeberin Armie. Mit ihrer warmen, aufmerksamen Art hat sie uns vom ersten Moment an das Gefühl gegeben, nicht nur willkommen, sondern zu Hause zu sein. Sie ist mit Herz und Seele dabei – das spürt man in jedem Detail. Besonders das Abendessen, das sie persönlich zubereitet und serviert hat, war ein kulinarisches Highlight mit unschlagbarem Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Es war so emotional, dass meine Frau nach einem erfüllten Tag in der Quinta da Regaleira zu Tränen gerührt war. Ja, das Hotel liegt an einer tagsüber gut frequentierten Straße. Aber ab etwa 17 Uhr kehrt angenehme Ruhe ein, und spätestens um 22 Uhr ist es absolut still – ideal zum Durchatmen und Genießen. Ach ja, da war noch der Blumenstrauß, den ich online bestellt hatte. Er wurde vormittags erwartet, jedoch am späten Nachmittag geliefert (typisch portugiesischer Gelassenheit) – spät, aber wunderschön. Er hat uns nicht nur die nächsten Tage begleitet, sondern auch den Flug nach Hause überstanden. Fazit: Wer einen besonderen Anlass feiern oder einfach nur inmitten von Schönheit, Ruhe und Herzlichkeit auftanken möchte, ist in der Quinta Velha goldrichtig. Für uns war es mehr als ein Urlaub – es war ein unvergessliches Erlebnis voller Emotionen.
