The photos lie! We were attending the antique engine show in Coolsprings PA. The usual hotels the group booked, were not able to accommodate us, so this was chosen because it was only 1/2 hour away. When researching, the photos of the hotel had it appearing acceptable to our needs. After our first day at the show we checked in, it was run down. We were assigned rooms on the second floor. The fire alarm in the stairwell had its cover removed. The was not a replacement detector installed. The floor at the top of the stairs was lifting and the floor to our room was very sticky. You could even see a spill trail that had never been mopped up! As well outside of one of the rooms there was a heap of dirty linen and towels . We got to our rooms they were just okay. The room had a coffee maker but no cups, no glasses in the bathroom. But the sheets and towels were clean. I went in search of ice, found a machine that doubled as the cleaning storage room, but the ice machine was not working. I called down to the front desk to see if they had a working ice machine, but no one ever answered. Our friends had to go to the the front desk to get toilet paper as the rooms they were assigned to didn’t even have any. The air conditioner in our room didn’t work, only the fan ran. We were never able to clear the musty smell in the room. The water that came out of the shower was brown and I had to let it run for 5 minutes before it ran clear and I could shower. When sitting at the desk, you had to be very careful as the arm of the desk chair was broken. The towels and linen were still in the hall when we left for the day. And when we came back. Our room had not been made up we had no clean towels or facecloths. No one in our group had their rooms done or fresh linens. We had to go to the front desk to get them only to hear the desk clerk whine o out how they only had one person to take of all the rooms! When we left the not only were the towels and linens still on the floor in the hall along with 2 bags of garbage added to the pile. The outside grounds were a mess, the weeds were over 2 feet high, the pool was closed but someone had a small dog running around the pool area. When talking to some folks that live in the area, their response to us was ‘oh no….’ We learned that it had been sold about a year ago and has become a dive! With the focus being daily and weekly customers. So don’t believe the photos that are on the website! In this case the photos aren’t worth a 1000 words. I think they used the photos when it was part of the Clarion group. They should be paying people to stay there! So avoid the Hotel Verandah, you will do better sleeping I. Your vehicle than staying there.
