Antigua Capilla B&B

My husband and I just came back from a 6 night stay at Antigua Capilla B&B. I don't say this often, but if you are looking at this property, considering whether you should book or not ... just book! You will not be disappointed. Rather, delighted by every detail. When you walk through the big black iron gate at street level, heading towards the main door, you will begin to understand. The colorful tile work & filled flower pots are lovely, and this is just on the walkway towards the entry door! The home's interior is tastefully designed and decorated with Mexican art. The kitchen has all the modern conveniences you will need. Our room was very spacious and comfortable and we looked forward to our delicious breakfasts each morning. The hosts, Antonieta and Francisco couldn't have been nicer, providing helpful tips for visiting the area (they speak Spanish & English fluently). I don't want to reveal too many more of the details that make this B&B so very special, so you will be able to enjoy and discover them on your own, but, I will add that the courtyard is so tranquil and the rooftop view was absolutely stunning! The B&B is located up a hill and down a narrow, safe, well lit walkway. We enjoyed greeting locals & tourists along the way. We enjoyed our walks down to the main square (15 min tops), and then back up (after hearty meals throughout the day, we looked forward to the exercise ... & if we didn't want to walk back up we took a $6.00 taxi). Just book, I know you will love Antigua Capilla as much as my husband and I. One more note: I am required to eat gluten-free for medical reasons and both hosts ensured that my breakfasts were GF)

I have been to Antigua Capilla several times in the past several years. Each visit is like coming home to.. "my home away from home"! Antonieta and Francisco are such lovely hosts and are always there to help with anything I may need. They have taken the time to help with suggestions on just about everything from sightseeing & transportation to finding ceramics and folk art pieces. The main house and each of the guest rooms are artfully decorated with a different theme of Mexican folk art, all charming. The rooms are immaculate and spacious as are the bathrooms. Also, the water on the property is purified. A delicious breakfast is served in the dining room or out in the garden patio...the garden is frequently visited by the neighborhood hummingbirds to add to the already delightful garden experience! There is a refrigerator stocked with beverages and snacks, coffee and tea in the kitchen available 24 hrs. (all on the honor system). There is also a rooftop terrace with tables and chairs to have an afternoon glass of wine or just enjoy the enchanting city views. The B & B is a short downhill walk into the central Jardin of San Miguel where you can enjoy celebrations the city always has to offer or just some of the best shopping I have found anywhere. Just writing this, I can't wait until my next visit!!

We spent 9 glorious days at the Antigua Capilla B&B in February and were blown away by the beauty of the place and the warmth and attentiveness of our gracious hosts Antonieta and Francisco and their staff. Jodi, my wife, spent every morning painting watercolours of the gorgeous courtyard and we also enjoyed the spectacular view from the roof-top terrace. No matter how high your expectations, you will not be disappointed!
