Cotton Tree Lodge

Great off the grid lodge. Spent a week there and it was above my expectations. This is a true jungle lodge. Don't expect air conditioning and room service, Rooms are cabanas built up about 10 feet. Very authentic jungle theme. Large rooms and nice size bathroom. Plenty to do every day. Many local tours and sites to see and do. Beds were comfortable food was good.

Took this trip mainly for fishing but also exploration of Mayan ruins and caves. Did not disappoint! I have never seen anything like groups of tarpon schooling baitfish like this before. A well placed fly always encouraged a strike or two from a 3" to 6" tarpon! I managed to hook several and land a few, while never seeing another fisherman the whole time. Best kept secret in Belize! Pop, the guide is a local ranger and fisherman and will put you on the fish and point out dozens of species of birds and mammals. Caught other species of fish the chef beautifully prepared. Carlos is another guide who has infinite knowledge of Mayan culture and traditions. Valerie and all her staff were quite welcoming and approachable. Personally, from a frigid climate, it took me a while to adjust to the heat and humidity without a/c. Non fishing days were packed full of local adventures, culinary surprises and interactions with friendly locals. Truly a gem, get off the beach and go inland!

Best Vacay! Remote Jungle on Moho is awesome. Excursions are too many to choose from…we picked cacao & made chocolate from scratch, went kayaking, saw & swam at numerous amazing waterfalls - so private & fun hard to believe! We went snorkeling, saw Dolphins, Manatee and the most colorful fish, we went fishing, & also we all learned to hand fish! The Chef at CottonTree fixed up our red snapper and all the fish we brought in each time for us - delicious! It was so fun to wake up to the sunrise peeking through the jungle. Wildlife was incredible the hummingbirds were not like any I had ever seen… we loved fishing in the morning on the Moho the view was so dreamy & magical! We played games each night. We loved the company of the other guest and especially the staff. The area & local Mayan villages were safe and everyone seemed so sweet. We loved the farm to table and experiencing the true culture of the area. The stars at night were so vibrant, and each excursion reminded us of how truly creative and diverse our Creator God really is and how you can see, smell, taste and hear all that so clearly in nature there in Belize! This EcoLodge provided us many unique experiences and amazing memories we will cherish.

Excellent adventure lodge. Staff gets 10 stars. Great for families. Excellent fishing (river and ocean), snorkeling, cave swimming, waterfall jumping, rum drinking, star gazing. Wonderful start to finish! Only downside was a long, bumpy ride to and from lodge for most activities.

We escaped the cold of winter to this little piece of jungle paradise. The food was plentiful and incredibly delicious. The location on the Moho River made for a relaxing setting to unplug and kick back.
