Lovely hotel. Very chilled and pretty location. A little noisy at night with noise from next door and the street, but not the hotel’s fault st all

The hotel itself was lovely, such a nice place, and the staff were exceptionally helpful, sending us links to things to do and advice which was really appreciated. The rooms were quite compact but very clean and well laid out. We had access to a fridge and kitchen area, which was also helpful. The location of the hotel was a short walk from the centre and made it easy for us to get to and from the pick-up points for trips, and when going for food and drinks. The only reason I have not rated this as excellent is due to lack of sleep. I'm personally quite a light sleeper so I really struggled to sleep here. The rooms, although absolutely lovely, are very close together and quite thin walls, so you could hear everything. The hotel has a no loud noises policy from 10pm - 10am but there was still a fair amount of general noise from other guests (one morning I was woken up at about 7am by an American speaking on her phone, in her room). I'd certainly love to stay here again but would have to bring earplugs!

SCAM AVOID! Upon arriving at the hotel we found out that we need to pay 8% on top of our reservation price for the card transaction! There was no info about it while booking. They trying to force us to pay cash! They doing it to avoid taxes and pay very low wages to their employees! We didn’t want to support this, and moved to another hotel, but they still tried to charge my card even we didn’t stay there! Shame!

I booked two types of rooms. 1. Deluxe room, #1 . Fair enough for the price. I requested to stay in this room but it was not possible 2. The second room I booked was shared bathroom, room #7. The worst room ever, dark, cold, next to the kitchen and reception. There is no way yo sleep , you can hear everything from everywhere. I recorded the noises from the upper level room. At 10:30pm, I addressed this to the receptionist who tired to help me. The receptionist looked afraid to call the general manger but he did it and this “gentleman”requested to speak with me . He is the rudeness, unprofessional person . His lack of empathy and cruel behavior is beyond normal. He knows the room is not adequate for any guest, he kept cutting me off, misleading the conversation by saying that I was shouting . I was so disappointed on my pajamas , cold , on my holidays , at the reception. Afterwards, he implied I got a special price for the room. That’s NOT accurate. I paid the full price . Therefore, at 23:00 pm , having 6 more days to go , he requested me to leave Casa Azabache. I told him that I was alone and I did not have where to go . He didn’t care. He said he was going to help me to book something for me , but he lied . I had to check on internet and booked a place to stay for the night. I overheard his conversation with the receptionist stating “ let her go, I will not give anything for free “ I was just asking to stay for the night while I figure it out where to go and get full refund for that night and the upcoming days . He returned me the money but still it is a matter of principle when you offer a room , full price, that it is impossible to sleep. He was even demanding for me to wear earplugs . Whoever decide to book here be careful with room 7 and with the manners of the General Manager / Owner , Jaime Jurio.

Very cute hotel. Great location, close to downtown. Large room, but low ceiling. We bumped our heads a few times with the beams.

I stayed here for 4 days and loved this hotel. The interiors are warm and inviting and I loved the layout, with a traditional patio and large common area. Even better, I liked how the windows would shut tightly, so I actually zero light getting into my room - made it easy to fall asleep. Staff is extremely nice and helpful. While this hostel is slightly distant from the central plaza, it's just a few blocks from the major artery - Real de Guadalupe - so it felt just distant enough to get a break from the city, but close enough to enjoy it. I also think the price is great for what you get.

We highly recommend this historic hotel tucked away on a side street of El Centro in San Cristobal. Alberto and his small team went above and beyond during our stay, which began with storing our luggage temporarily, discussing in detail the creative ways to explore the city (including its array of exciting restaurants -- don't miss Sarajevo Café Jardin) and making us feel right at home. They were always great support in arranging transportation as well. The "casa" is pretty small, but it does have a couple premium rooms and a very peaceful courtyard in which all guests can recline; plus, there's a fairly well equipped kitchen in the common area. Security is top notch, too, without being overbearing. Presumably most budget needs would be met at this hidden gem, whether your staying for a night or extending your visit to several days in San Cristobal.

Lo mejor sin duda es la ubicación, cerca del andador Guadalupano y del centro histórico. El personal muy amable y atento. Las instalaciones muy cómodas, la pequeña excepción fue su calentador de agua para la ducha ya que no es continua. Pero sin duda lo recomiendo y volvería.

En general todo estuvo muy bien, el lugar es muy bonito y tiene una excelente ubicación, a unas cuantas cuadras del andador Guadalupe. El servicio y atención fueron de lo mejor. Si acaso, lo único incómodo fue su calentador de agua de la ducha ya que no era constante. Pero de ahí en más, todo fue agradable
