Chateau du Mont Joly

This is a fine dining destination with rooms five in all We decided to stay overnight on our return trip from Troys to Lausanne to have another fine dining opportunity but dinner rather than lunch The chateau is just outside Dole in a tranquil setting with beautiful grounds with a terrace overlooking the swimming pool. We booked a standard room overlooking the grounds and the swimming pool which met our requirements - we appreciated the bedside focus lamps. It was a little surprising that there was only one miniscule shower gel ,no shampoo,for two persons The breakfast was an additional cost €15 each.There were aspects of the breakfast which were puzzling.The fruit dish was pineapple pieces drowned in sweet pineapple juice - we found that bizarre when we are in season of red berries an apricots.We were also surprisingly given rich cakes as well as standard french breakfast pain au chocolate croissant and baguette.The orange juice was obviously from a container but certainly not Andros at least I do not consider this a healthy breakfast.There are other options low sugar cereal eggs ham and cheese.It does not reflect that you are staying in a fine dining restaurant

The restaurant is located in beautiful private surroundings.Originally a private mansion with a modern extension to house the tastefully decorated restaurant with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the grounds.It is a restaurant with rooms so a leisurely drive across Swiss-French border for a dining experience and head to bed a perfect scenario for another occasion but we were delighted to stopover here for lunch on our return to Lausanne from Semur en Auxois It was a memorable dining experience with five courses including cheese selection notwithstanding canapés,amuse bouche,pre-dessert and petit fours Each dish as images show was an exquisite piece of art - the quality was in the products used and the detail and balance of subtle flavours. The service was professional efficient and seamless with the details of each dish explained.The chef attending our table to gain our experience is what you would expect or hope for at end of service A 2hr drive is nothing when this awaits you at the other end - we will be back

Nous avons passé une nuit dans cet hôtel très confortable. La soirée a commencé par un très bon dîner au restaurant une étoile Michelin, gratification justifiée. La chambre est agréable avec une belle vue sur le parc. Le petit déjeuner est également très bon.

Op doorreis terugnaar huis wilden we toch iets speciaals. En dat was dit! Prachtige locatie, heel aardig personeel maar bovenal TOP restaurant. We hadden al heel lang niet zo goed gegeten echt sterrenniveau!! Dus wil je een keer echt lekker eten, boek dan dit chateau!

Le Château Mont Joly classé 4 étoiles date du XVIIIe siècle. Entièrement restauré et repensé avec beaucoup de goût et d’amour par le couple Catherine et Romuald Fassenet. Nous avons séjourné dans l’une des sept chambres de charme. La nôtre était très spacieuse, divisée en deux parties avec d’un côté la partie chambre avec des belles poutres apparentes et une jolie vue sur le grand parc arboré et la piscine et de l’autre côté la partie salle d’eaux et sa baignoire à remous. Cocooning assuré. La passion est partout dans cette belle demeure. Catherine Frassenet, s’occupe de la bonne marche du service ainsi que de l’intendance. Romuald Frassenet, chef réputé que l’on ne présente plus, meilleur Ouvrier de France et étoilé Michelin, propose une cuisine raffinée qui met véritablement à l'honneur les meilleurs produits régionaux. Nos papilles se souviendront longtemps de la succession de plats d’une finesse absolue, plus succulents les uns que les autres et présentés tels des chefs-d’œuvre. Encore quelques lignes de compliments et de remerciements pour le personnel de la réception pour la qualité de l’accueil d’une part et des serveurs lors de notre repas pour leur service attentif, attentionné et très professionnel. Grâce à vous tous nous sommes partis du Mont Joly avec qu’une envie, c’est d’y revenir.

La chambre (surtout la salle de bains ) mériterait une rénovation. C’est pratique de pouvoir coucher sur place après un excellent dîner (noté par ailleurs). Les plus : un très beau jardin et une très agréable piscine, un très bon petit déjeuner en terrasse, un prix doux. Bref qualité de l’hôtel très en dessous de celle du restaurant.
