Lodji Hotel & Spa

Lodji is the perfect location in Saint Martin, less than 50 metres from the Gondola. Wonderful staff and a welcoming restaurant and bar.we chose to eat in the restaurant 5 nights out of our 7 night stay. One small gripe…freshly brewed coffee would be much better than the standard coffee machine. Top marks for freshly squeezed orange juice!

We stayed at Lodji hotel as part of our first ski trip away with our one year old son. We were understandably quite nervous about the trip but had an absolutely fantastic experience at the hotel. The hotel itself is in a fantastic location, beautifully decorated and well equipped. The restaurant stood out in particular with its varied menu, all of which we found delicious. Our room was a well equipped larger family room with a hot-tub on the balcony and was very comfortable. All of this would be for nothing though if not for the staff and this is my main reason for writing the review. We were overwhelmed by the kindness and helpfulness shown by every member of staff in the hotel. When you have a young family one can often feel like an inconvenience but in the case of Lodji we were made to feel incredibly welcome. Without exception every member of staff we encountered greeted us with a smile and made us feel incredibly welcome. We left the hotel having had a fantastic experience and will fondly remember our son's first winter trip to the Alps at Lodji. Thank you!

Top notch staff and hospitality. Stunning views of the Alps from the balconies of west facing rooms as well as the hotel restaurant and bar. Ski in and ski out location at the base of the St Martin gondola. Walkable to local restaurants in St Martin de Belleville. Wonderful experience. Highly recommend.

We have eaten and had drinks at The Lodji since it opened and have regularly stayed nearby. From what I have seen (I haven’t seen the bedrooms), The Lodji is a beautifully and thoughtfully designed hotel almost perfectly positioned on the slopes on St Martin de Belleville with ready access to the ski lift. On each visit we have found the staff in the bar and restaurant to be attentive and welcoming. I note one reviewer commented on the high cost of the beer. There is one reasonably priced beer – Jupiler - with the other brands being around twice the price. So, be careful what you order. We found the food to be very good and priced as one would expect in a hotel on the mountain. I note that there have been reviews mentioning the loud apres-ski music. Although the website says this stops at 6:30pm, in practice this is not always the case. Last week it went to 8:30pm on two occasions and was extremely loud. I can’t say exactly how loud as the hotel DJ did not have a decibel meter in place. This makes it difficult to recommend The Lodji as a family hotel because pumping, bass-heavy music does travels through walls - the deeper the bass, the bigger the sound wave – and I note some reviews mention that the rooms are noisy. Last year one reviewer recommended that clients did not take a room on one side of the hotel because of the loud music. Interestingly, the hotel management responded by noting that “the DJ is sometimes playing on the slopes' side and sometimes on the valley side, so it is useless to advise next clients to choose one side instead of another.” In the colder months, The Lodji place gas and wood fires on the front and rear balconies. These can become very smoky / fumy and unpleasant with the smell pervading clothes. I believe these external fires are prohibited in France for environmental reasons, so I was surprised to see them being used.

Short walk to the hotel restaurant and lucky that we had prebooked as was pretty full As we got there before the rush unfortunately staff appeared not to get involved, once we had got there attention and menus all was good. Liked the ambience however the seats were not great, table a little to wide. Food was great and fast. Had the Angus steak but I think roast potatoes would have been better than Fries. Not cheap but then we were in a resort so no complaints here. Overall a good dinner will still go back if we come next year.

For either drink a coffee and be allowed to use the Wi-Fi to be able to do a little work or go drink a Belgian Beer for the after-ski, both the service and the place are wonderful. With kindness and a great sense of humor, the staff was 5 stars. And the landscape is just breathtaking.
