Cars were idling outside our room at 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. and started up again at 4:30 p.m. Doors were slamming all night. Maybe you can say the hotel can't control these things. But it can control these: The room doors close way too loud. The in-room heater was quite loud, as was the fridge. The in-room ice maker didn't work. A light from the parking lot was shining directly into our room and the curtains couldn't keep it out. My wife stuck a tennis shoe on the bottom of the curtains that helped but not enough. The room, even with all the lights turned on, was dark. I thought the bed was OK but my wife said she felt like she was rolling into the middle all night. On the plus side, teh staff was friendly and the coffee was free (although you had to make your way through a maze of renavations to get to it). Neither sadly made up for the miserable night's sleep. While it's unlikely we ever will be coming back to St. Joseph - nothing against St. Joseph - we definitely would look for another place to say.
