Spent an enjoyable 6 nights at this B&B in Sagres, and were completely won over by its charm, decor, situation and staff. We had a (cheaper) non sea view room which proved to be a bonus as it remained cooler during the day and had a wonderful view of the famous Sagres sunset. Room was spacious, king size bed (very comfy), ac, decent TV, minibar and good sized bathroom. Breakfast is a buffet and was perfectly adequate - selection of breads, cold meats, yogurts and fruit: pretty much on par with European hotels. Although it was in a basement dining room, it was bright, spacious and you had the option to bring your brekkie upstairs to the terrace. The coffee shop is brilliant: great staff with excellent English and Spanish, lovely coffee and cakes. We often skipped desert in other restaurants so we could nip back there for coffee and ice cream! Location is excellent- 3 minute walk down the hill to the lovely Mareta beach. If you have a car, then Martinhal beach is about 5 mins away, with windsurfing, foiling and sups available for hire from Joel in Wind4all. In the other direction is Beliches beach, which is more sheltered, but 157 tricky steps make access a challenge, but worth it. All the bars and restaurants in the town are within easy reach of the hotel. Parking is usually pretty easy at the side of the hotel on the little square - but bear in mind it's a one way system so you must drive out towards the fortaleza and around to get back to the town. Takes 2 minutes, so wasn't a hassle for us. We are already planning a return trip early next year.
