Saltcote Place

We had a lovely weekend stay here in August as the perfect ‘kids are with the grandparents’ retreat. The house and grounds are absolutely stunning and the Amberley Suite with its four-poster bed, huge bathroom and powerful shower did not disappoint. Paul and Alan are excellent hosts and the nightcaps and breakfast were wonderful. We were seated with two other couples at breakfast, which would usually be something I would recoil from, as I am so far from being a morning person, but everyone was lovely and the conversation flowed easily, helped along no doubt by the bubbles, and it was a valuable opportunity to hear from them and our hosts about places to visit in the area. Thank you to Paul and Alan for such a wonderful stay. Possibly the most beautiful residence in Rye and the most charming company. They pay such attention to detail, from a glass of wine on your arrival to discuss your stay, to a fabulous breakfast menu. The breakfast is way above the standard of usual bed and breakfast accommodation. Alan’s hollandaise sauce is a must, and Paul’s offer of bubbles at breakfast helps to kickstart the relaxation! Everything is meticulously clean and the views from our room were spectacular. Perfect location to visit Rye, and in walking distance of Rye Harbour and Camber Sands. A wonderful break away.

It was an absolute delight to spend 2 days here during a recent visit to Rye. First impressions are that this place is special and that feeling just grows throughout the stay. Not so much a hotel or B&B, you are welcomed enthusiastically into a charming and delightful family home and treated like royalty throughout; from a welcome drink to a personalised nightcap. After a comfortable sleep you wake to a freshly-made champagne breakfast, beautifully cooked and served with style and elegance. Town is only a short walk away down the hill and there is plenty of local knowledge and recommendations for (excellent) places to eat and things to do. Paul and Alan are great hosts and we chatted away like old familiar friends for several hours. Rather sad to leave and would definitely return when in the area

My wife and I have just spent the most fabulous weekend in Rye, staying at Saltcote Place. There are many superlatives which can be used, but the one we have decided is simply fantastic, From being met at the front of this magnificent Grade 2 listed building, which is also the hosts home, you are treated as someone special. A complementary glass of wine, which was very nice indeed, and Paul spends as long as necessary finding out your likes and dislikes concerning breakfast. We stayed in the Royal Military suite and again attention to detail is outstanding, from the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in to the bathroom with full size bath and separate shower cubicle. A glass of bubbles with breakfast is just the thing to start a day of exploring Rye old town and the surrounding area. Paul and Alan are the most perfect hosts and the stay was more like being guests at a friends house than a B&B, except when it came to settling the account of course. But, as the saying goes “you get what you pay for” and in our opinion this stay was worth every penny. We will repeat our experience with this perfect couple again very soon.

We had a super 2 night stay at Saltcote Place. From the drive upto the beautiful house and everything there after, it was faultless. The wonderful hosts Paul and Alan looked after us so well. The attention to detail, wine on arrival, our chosen nightcap each evening waiting for us when we returned. Breakfast choices were outstanding and Alan cooks everything to perfection.
