IF you have searched for places around Phata/ Sonprayag en route to Gaurikund/ Kedarnath you would notice there are so few options ONLINE. So we booked here for a night and extended by another night as our helicopter booking got postponed and the owner played the ever-reliable scarce goods tactic - it worked and we extended by another night, regretable in hindsight! The property is a complete cut-off from the main area and you have to take a 1.5 kms uphill detour to the property - the point at which you take the detour is when you bid goodbye to your Jio and Vodafone phone networks entirely. The property is located close to 2-3 helipads so if you are lucky enough to get a booking around then its a good companion. What I liked was the remoteness of the place and the food was decent. The staff and the owner Mr. Gosain were accommodative - they lent us their hotspot to make a few calls since there was no network and the spacious tent but what I didn't like were the following: a) Frequent power outage: you can forget any signs of electricity during the daytime and have to request staff to turn on the generator when you take a bath b) Absolutely no network: this was a big pain for us as we had to make several calls to coordinate the bookings. c) The tents were spacious but were pretty basic - no TV for instance or internet d) Compulsory buffet of 350 per head during dinner time and 200 during breakfast which I found was pretty inconveient. You simply cannot order ala carte. Given the limited spread I found the pricing excessive. Overall, I think the property can be run more professionally and there are much more amazing options few minutes away at a more reasonable price such as La Fioli - we loved staying there for one night - what a view, buffet spread, rooms with TV etc. and cheaper than KedaraYatih. At almost 8K with taxes and food I don't think KedaraYatih is VFM - but I will change my views if they reduce the buffet price or remove the compulsion, improve connectivity and resolve the electricity issues. Not to forget - add a TV to the room for the kids please!
