Hotel New York by WestCord

We selected this hotel for its location close to the cruise port ( directly across the street). It’s an older hotel but great location and restaurant was great. Wish they had at least an iron or steamer along with a hair dryer. Overall we would recommend. Elevator is small and stairs access the floors. A little tricky getting your luggage up the hotel entrance to the lobby. If you travel light it’s ok.

This hotel was fantastic. The staff was friendly, the room was great, and the restaurant was very good. The nautical decor of this 100+ year old hotel celebrating the history of Holland America Cruise Line was awesome. 5-minute walk from the hotel to the cruise terminal. Highly recommend.

Just been for a few beers here in the basement area. Check the prices before ordering and then was charged double 😡 Husband is not the complaining type so we left but not a great experience. So check your bill and the prices as you will get ripped off. Really disappointed as we have really wanted to visit here but definitely don’t bother. 😕

Chose the Hotel New York because of its proximity to the cruise terminal since we were going on a Holland American cruise after a four night-stay in Rotterdam and because of the history of the hotel as the former nineteenth-century headquarters of the cruise line. Since last year we had stayed at the nearby SS Rotterdam Hotel just across the way, we decided to book this year the Hotel New York since we had been very impressed by the warmth and hospitality of the Westcord brand of hotels. We were not disappointed with the individualized attention of Iris who, although no longer at the hotel, booked our room at the Hotel New York and the efficiency and smile of Elsa at the front desk during our four-night stay. We reserved one of the Boardroom accommodations because it kept the original late nineteenth-century decor as a former office of a member of the line's board, and because of its spaciousness, view, and modern conveniences. Not only was it an amazing experience, but, as the top-of-the-line room category in the hotel, I found it surprisingly affordable as a once-in-a-lifetime experience - splurge and you will be glad you did. The only negative comment by way of a warning is that the front entrance to the hotel lobby is up a flight of about fifteen steps - handicap accessibility was apparently not an issue in the nineteenth century. Some other reviewers have noted this drawback, but I went ahead and booked the room in spite of my painful right knee. If you can drag yourself up a short flight of stairs while grabbing a handrail and pulling yourself up, the ordeal is worth a stay at the Hotel New York. Inside the hotel, a small elevator awaits. By the way, the neighborhood is fantastic - a great mix of office and residential, old and new.
