The reviews for this property seem to bear little resemblance to the reality. We had high expectations but found firstly there was no taxi or bus available from the station and we could not contact the property, fortunately a passing driver agreed to take us; it would have been impossible for us to walk with our luggage because the hotel is in the town up a very steep hill either by road (winding with no pavement) or the path with steep stairs up. It later turned out that the "shuttle" to the beach, accessible only by going up and down the steep hill and then walking 800 or more meters, did not exist! We were met at the hotel by the cleaner! the owner was in Rome. There is no lift and again very steep stairs to the room - unsuitable for anyone with physical disability or very elderly. We had to wait for someone to come to carry our luggage up. The room was very nice and so was the bathroom. Airconditioned and clean. Breakfast was served or available in a room downstairs - we were the only guests. We were asked before what we wanted - sweet or savoury - the provision was basic. the person in charge, Matteo, was pleasant enough but we later found out he reported what we ate and how many cups of coffee we had. On the second day the fruit consisted of very thinly slice banana and kiwi!! We given a key and could come and go, but were were also responsible for locking and unlocking the door as the property was unsupervised even at night. If we had had an accident on those stairs or fallen ill there would have been a problem (a breach of health and safety?) On our second day, 15th June, the weather was very poor, we got soaked and returned to the hotel to dry and warm ourselves. there were only two tea bags in our room, both chamomile. No one was in the building so my wife went to the dining room and took some proper tea bags. We went out and when we returned, my wife told the cleaning lady she had got the tea. We went out and while out the owner phoned my wife and gave her a torrent of abuse about helping herself to the tea, the amount of coffee we drank, and so on. The tirade went on for some time and in the end my wife stopped the conversation; she was very upset and so distressed we decided we had to leave the property and were fortunate enough to find an alternative (at some expense) In our haste we left an item of clothing (later returned) and my wife's contact lenses; our attempts to communicate about the return of these were ignored. Five Euros were deducted from the 30 Euro deposit to cover the cost of the tea!! We had no further direct communication with the owner. Our travel agent has made a refund to us directly, but has still been unable to get a response from the owner! And we have had no apology for this appalling treatment from her. If you choose this property, be aware that its location is in the town located up a very steep hill; the train stop to use is NOT Rodi Garganico, but the one before the Port - and there are n
