Island Inn Rishiri

I believe it was in 2020, but there was a cancellation by a Chinese group guest, and I was informed that the hotel would be closed in the future because it would be difficult to maintain it, so I had the bitter experience of canceling half the airfare to Rishiri Island with my own money. This time, I made a reservation directly with the hotel via the Internet, but the first day was 80,000 yen and the next day was 90,000 yen (both weekday rates). Naturally, I thought I would be treated as a VIP, but I was treated the same as a cheap group guest for dinner and breakfast, so I was completely betrayed. Furthermore, the sofa in the room on the fourth floor of Island Inn Rishiri, where I was given the key, was about to be discarded, and the bed was very uncomfortable, and I seemed to turn over many times. There were dead ants and hair floating in the shared open-air bath. Now that my trip to Hokkaido is over, I feel angry and wonder why I had to stay there even though I paid such a high price. This time, the staff were very friendly, which I appreciated, but even though it was a remote island and the summer high season, there was no motivation to improve the facilities, and the hotel focused on group tours and did not provide facilities or services that matched the price. I will avoid these hotels in the future. After the trip, I found out that there was a hotel on the same island of Rishiri that had recently undergone major renovations, which was disappointing.

The hot spring was a disappointment. There were three types of baths in the large communal bath, but only one was natural hot spring. The open-air bath was not a hot spring as it used groundwater, and the view was not good. The food was better than expected. For dinner, we could only choose the buffet, but the sashimi, main dishes, etc. were served like a kaiseki meal and were delicious. The buffet had a wide variety of dishes and was delicious. However, the venue was small and we were seated next to each other. Although we checked in at 4pm, dinner time was set for 6:30pm, which seems to be a priority for groups.
