On the plus side, the room was what you would expect from a Premier Inn, clean and comfortable enough. However as a booked guest I was surprised to have to pay extra to park in the hotel car park on arrival - as it is in the middle of an industrial area you would expect guests to arrive by car, so this seems taking the opportunity to extract extra cash from them. My party could then not get a table in the large hotel restaurant either ('staff shortages' we were told). As we left to search for a pub serving food we could see only half a dozen people eating there, and just two when we returned. My organisation books Premier Inns for their convenient all-in-one facilities and value for money. This was a disappointing experience for a big chain that advertises full facilities, and comes on the back of staying at another Premier Inn (Salisbury, 5 Nov) to find that half the items on the basic enough menu were not available. Not good enough I'm afraid.
