We stayed at R13 A Townhouse Hotel in a “Triple Room” with a private bathroom. There was a main bed, a single bunk bed attached to the wall above, a beautiful private bathroom and a kitchenette with a hot plate, oven, mini dishwasher, mini fridge, sink, dishes, utensils, cups, kettle and tea. Self check-in was super easy! They offered us an early check-in but I declined it since I thought we were arriving later. We were running ahead of schedule and arrived at 2:40pm, so we had to wait the 20-minutes until the 3pm check-in for our door to accept the code. It was not a big deal, but if you are offered an early check-in, it might be worth it! There was lots of parking around the front and the side of the building. The hotel is not within walking distance to downtown Reykjavik (about 40 minute walk to Hallgrimskirkja) but you can always take an e-scooter, taxi, or bus.

This is by far the worst experience I have ever had in my 44 years of staying in hotels all around the world. After a very bad check-in experience where the room we we offered was substandard, we were promised a refund for 1 night. After we left the hotel management simply ignored my requests to refund me the promised money. They do not answer calls nor emails. Do NOT stay in this hotel run by thieves.

This hotel apartment was one of the best that we have ever stayed in. For price, facilities and friendliness you can't go wrong. Situated on the outskirts of the city centre, we had many shops and restaurants nearby. The room was spacious with kitchen facilities, including a microwave oven, where we could cook our own meals. Having a fridge with a freezer compartment was handy too, for storing frozen veg etc. Having all the other facilities like kettle and toaster, we had good breakfasts and lunches, with large jars of tea bags and fresh coffee etc. The shower area was very good with two shower heads with powerful water jets with an overall pristine look. The daily cleaning staff were always helpful, replenishing anything from towels to toilet roll, when required. The hotel staff in the lobby were very friendly too.

I booked this hotel because I had a kitchenette and we planned on cooking to save money. However, there was not a pan in the room to even use the stove that is provided. Or a proper knife to cut an apple unfortunately. Or a rag to wipe down the counter. The dishwasher was a bonus as I didn’t know we’d have one but there was no dishwasher pods to use or even dish soap to wash our dishes. In the past when I’ve stayed at hotels that provide a kitchenette they also provide the basics to go along with it. Because why would you buy a pan, dishwasher pods, a rag, dish detergent and a knife while on vacation for just a few days? There was no one at the reception to speak to about this either. We were told that no one is available because we were there during the off season. So we couldn’t even get a simple coffee or a drink at the bar. It was all for show. I was disappointed with this as it was not noted when we booked. When I booked I saw there was a bar and was looking forward to having a drink in the evening to wind down. The hotel is in a area where their are a few restaurants close by so that was a plus. And the design of the room is also nice but I would call it “fake fancy” as it’s mostly for show and not for actual use.
