ÖÖD Hekla Horizon - Mirror Houses

We arrived and right away we thought oh my god. We often taken trips to the country to escape the country life. The views from these houses are unbelievable. The jacuzzi, sauna and the decor inside the outside blew me away. Every little detail has been thought of. The house has all the cooking things you need but we decided to drive 25 min were we had plenty of restaurant options. We cannot wait to return soon. Thank you for having us.

We are lost of words! This place is definitely worth a stay, our experience was great. The cabins are warm, fully equipped (kitchen, towels and bath robes, private sauna and hot tub!!), the bed was so comfy, the views breathtaking. The perfect spot for northern light gazing and getting the most amazing shots reflecting on the mirror walls.

Ööd Hekla Horizon - Mirror Houses is a beautiful experience that I can more than recommend. Everything clean, modern, with its own sauna, jacuzzi and the view of a river & the mountains is indescribable. We were allowed to spend two nights there. The view is protected, as if you were completely alone. For those looking for company, there is a community house with a view of the volcano and a sauna. I could still rave a lot here. Just do it, you won't regret it.

4 of us stayed in Glacier - mother daughter trip. The unit was well equipped. Beds extremely comfortable and cozy with the duvets provided. We cooked a few meals and found everything we needed to do so. Enjoyed the hot tub - the dark, remote location allowed us to see plenty of stars. Sauna was easy to use and to set to the right temperature for our comfort. We used the house as a base station for some excursions. Would love to return with a few good books.

A location that is breathing and peaceful. If one is going to Iceland must stay here for a serene time to disconnect with the world and reconnect with oneself and/or your loved ones. I am sure I will be back here on my next trip to iceland. The owners are super warm and welcoming people, we wish them the best!

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. We were unfortunately there during terrible winds that made it a little hard to sleep, but the sunrise was absolutely worth it! *Things to keep in mind* • The road isn't paved and has a lot of holes and the walkways are gravel, so it's ideal to get there in the daylight so you can avoid damaging your car and walk safely to your cabin (we weren't so lucky) • Because the cabins are mirrored, the view looks darker than if you were standing outside. My guess is that the northern lights would have to be crazy bright in order to see them from inside your cabin, so the likelyhood of laying in bed while watching them is probably slim. The Northern Lights Lounge (which is fabulous) isn't mirrored and shows the outside in it's true color, so it's aptly named because it is the ideal place to watch the lights from indoors! The winds were too insane for us to try the hot tub or safely venture out to the Lounge to use the sauna, but I'm sure they are fantastic. My over all consensus: book in the spring or summer when the weather isn't so dicey (we were lucky enough to take advantage of the opening discount, but definitely wouldn't have been worth full price with the weather we had since it prevented us from getting to try everything). Check in early so you can enjoy all the amenities. Don't go with the intent of seeing the northern lights, but to enjoy the incredible sunsets/sunrise and enjoy a romantic, spalike experience in a peaceful area. Once in a lifetime experience!
