Raleigh Midtown

I had to attend my cousin's funeral on New Year's Eve in the Raleigh area so I decided to give Residence a chance one more time. I visit Raleigh often because my family lives there. My grandchildren and I checked in that Saturday night 12/31/2022 in room 514. We discovered it was roach infested! I had to move to another room with all my grandchildren in the middle of the night because the roaches started coming out when I turned the lights back on! They put is in room 1814 and that had roaches as well! They finally moved us again. It was a terrible experience, and I didn't sleep well because I feared bringing roaches back home and they still charged me!

We (2 couples) stayed here several years ago during New Years. It was great!! I looked on the internet and even called several places in Raleigh trying to find it again as all of us had forgotten the name. We were so disappointed this time. This whole place needs a THROUGH cleaning! Everything - the walls, the furniture, the ceilings & the carpeting were so dirty we put sheets on everything before we sat on it. It’s in desperate need of an outside paint job and they need a Maintenance Dept. that does their job!! We made several requests regarding the dirty office chair and a missing kitchen chair. They eventually brought the kitchen chair (after 2 requests) and never replaced the nasty office chair. The ceiling fan was in disrepair (had a blade hanging down) and constantly rattled. They did attempt to appease us with another totally unacceptable room. The ceiling fan was even louder. We didn’t look at anything else as no one could have slept through the fan noise!! I’ve attached a few pictures for reference. Do yourselves a favor, don’t stay here.

I am not a hotel snob. By any means. I shall book at places like Hilton Garden Inn or Coutrryard Marriott, etc. But I’m if booking at a Marriott location, I expect certain things. Carpeting that isn’t torn up and fraying. Rooms that don’t smell like smoke. A location that doesn’t look like they were cheap apartments renovated to look like hotel rooms. This was appalling to say the least. I have stayed at other Residence Inn locations that are actual hotels and deliver for the price. This was disgusting and I do NOT recommend you book here.

This “hotel” use to be an apartment complex and is sandwiched between other apartment complexes. Loud cars going up and down the street. An ice creame truck going up and down the road at 9:30PM. You can hear everything. I’d check out but my kids are already asleep after a long day of traveling. I will not stay here again and strongly advice you to do your research before staying here.

Check-in not especially welcoming, the person behind the counter barely acknowledged my presence. While comfortable for an overnight stay, the guestrooms urgently need a refresh! I'm surprised Marriott hasn't insisted this franchisee make improvements to the property, the property's current condition is years in the making. A couple restaurants are within walking distance.

Had a meeting in Raleigh this week and check in on the late side. I was very pleased with this hotel choice. It's like a lot of townhomes very comfortable design. The staff was very professional and kind. It was nice to have a full kitchen! The room was clean and convenient. All the appliances you need for a multiple-night stay. The bed was super comfy, and Breakfast was delicious! Thank you for making my stay at the residence inn "feel like home."
