We went on a family holiday to Puri and booked for 3 nights with 2 senior citizen and 1 child. We did a late check in, around 8pm. The 1st night we were given King's court room although we were booked for Queen's court room. When i asked at the reception that the rooms are different than booked, they said you have been upgraded and size wise all rooms are same, so its all the same. Our nightmare started from the 1st night, one of the rooms did not have AC working and inspite of complaint, we spent the night without AC. Next morning, when day shift staff came, they said we need to shift to Queen's court room since that is what we booked. I was so surprised with the casual attitude with which they kept insisting us to shift, inspite of me requesting them not to do so as with senior citizens its difficult. Would you expect rooms to be changed in a pre-booking and that too when the booking was done directly with the hotel and we never asked for any other room than the one we booked? We were told, since all the Queen court rooms were full, we were given King's court for 1 night. After being hounded by calls, we finally shifted, only to our dismay to know AC was not working in both the rooms and we wasted all afternoon dealing with them and giving lame excuses. Finally, I escalated the matter and talked to the GM, Mr Reddy, who took charge of the situation and inspite of him coming in, it took 4 hours for the matter to resolve. You dont go to a hotel paying Rs 10,000/- per night to expect AC not working and wasting almost 1 day out of 2 day holiday. Further, the food is very very average and overly priced, comparable with TAJ rates. We had dinner in TAJ and our bill was less than this hotel. I would surely request you to re-think before booking this place. They are surely under-staffed, kitchen service is extremely slow, room entrance is very awkward and cramped in the King's court room which has pool access. This is just a mediocre 3 star hotel, whose tariff should not be more than 3000-4000 per night for the service they are providing. I heard a lot of travellers complaining in the reception. I got influenced by all the good reviews while booking this place and spoiled our holiday completely.
