GHL Hotel Lago Titicaca

Hotel Lago Titicaca needs some serious renovations to claim they are a 5 star hotel. Service at the front desk was not too friendly and the restaurant seemed to follow behind which might require looking at the entire team. They have a property that is capable of being truly remarkable but ownership and management just don’t know how to make that happen. Very sad.

Nice lake view and good location away from downtown. There was loud music/ performance at night (before 11pm) tho

The place is very spacious and tidy, are good and comfortable, the staff that attended us were very helpful at all times and were always attentive to our needs. The hotel is located in a really privileged area of the city where it is away from the chaos of downtown and has wonderful views of the sunrise and sunset, we had a nice experience at the bonfire at sunset, we definitely recommend this place to stay

I do not like leaving negative comments. But this hotel does not qualify for the 5 stars shown on the hotel plaque nor is it the 4-star hotel as listed by our travel agency. It is a 3-star facility and not even at the top of this rank... The lounge and bar are nice and well-kept. The restaurant food is ok but not spectacular. The lake view is nice though not from every room. The rooms seem to have been waiting for major renovation for years and years... We arrived with the PeruRail train from Cusco - together with about 10 other couples, just like us most of them individual travelers. The front desk could not cope with this "rush" and room assignment took some time. Our "prime sunset room" was small and unpretentious, i.e. plain, old-fashioned style, worn furniture, a bathroom with a scratched door, a tub with a plastic curtain (reminding me of cheap US chain hotels in the 80ies) that did not prevent the flooding of floor and toilet seat when taking a shower. There was a stain on the linen. And we had a problem with the room temperature. The display on the wall showed 27°C and we tried in vain to switch the temperature to 18°C for the night. When contacting the reception desk we were told that the rooms had no A/C but heating only. Their advice was to open the big panorama window... "Don't worry. There is no insects at Puno." We opened it during our absence for dinner but had to close it for the night. And the temperature was still high... To be fair I would like to add that the staff was nice. But the hotel itself was a real disappointment. I wonder how they got so many top evaluations in December 2023 from people who had never before evaluated any other hotel...

The hotel has a good location with sunrise and sunset views over Lake Titicaca. It is a large property with sizeable grounds. It is quite outside Puno, so once there your main options for drinking and eating are at the hotel. In it's day it must have been an impressive hotel with the size and facilities. However now it is looking tired and in need of renovation. We were upgraded to a suite with a view over the lake. The room was spacious, the bed was comortable and there were sufficient sockets available to charge devices. The view from the room was great. The bathroom was a decent size but, like the room, the decor and the equipment looked very dated. We had dinner in the dining room and there was a good range of food to choose from. It was reasonably priced. The service was good. The dining room also looked as if it was from another era. We had an ealry departure the following morning. We were told that breakfast was available from 0500. When we arrived shortly after that at the dininng room, which would have had a wonderful view of the sun rising over the lake, we were told that early breakfast was only available in another room downstairs that did not have a view. When we arrived there the breakfast was still in the process of being set up and the one person doing this was clearly not happy about having to do this and was evidently grumpy. More food was still arriving when we had to leave. The selling point for this hotel is its location and the firepits outside to watch the sunset.

Stayed here for two nights during our Gate 1 Tour. Served us a great welcome drink upon registration. The hotel is located in a remote part of Puno. The hotel overlooks Lake Titicaca and we had two fantastic sunrises. We can see the boats travelling to and from the floating islands. The building is a former prison building...I couldn't see it. Rooms were adequately sized. I didn't like where my room was situated because there were partially opened hallways and my room was directly over the check-in desk 3 flights down. It got noisy rather early in the morning. Elevators were small and slow. Breakfast was outstanding, eggs made to order. Jorge and Johan, two great servers, took great care of us for the 2 days. Very professional and cordial. We had 2 small twin beds in our room. There is a nice bar area and it has a pool table. The towels were tired and the tv channels were not that great. Good shower head with plenty of hot water. Nice soap and body wash was furnished, as well as robes and slippers. Taxi's are available in the area. For sunset, they have a bonfire on the hill. There is also an awesome nature walk around the property. I recommend this property for staying in the Puno area.

Lovely hotel. Great view. Perfect place to launch our visit to the floating villages. Amazing staff. Jorge is the perfect example of that. Every day at breakfast he served us. While he was professional, he was also very friendly. Got us everything we needed with a smile.

During our stay, Jorge took great care of us at the Los Uros Restaurant for breakfast! The coffee was always full and everything was done with a smile! It made our mornings perfect! The view is amazing and the food is delicious. Thanks Jorge!!!

The service at the hotel and restaurant is fantastic-especially Jorge in the restaurant. We ate all our meals over three days here, and he is always working! He makes sure you have everything you need or want and does it all with a smile. They are lucky to have people like him on the staff.
