Very nice location with a lot of excursions possibilities. Food selection could be better, e.g. sunset restaurant offers only Italian food.

Good place to stay

Fantastic experience. Lovely people and you leave as friends. The whole place gives out a friendly relaxed vibe with well informed educated staff who will bring you around the islands to explore the various snorkelling sites. It’s an all inclusive resort, which means you don’t need to think of money. The activities including a sunset cruise is worth the price they charge. There’s a two hour trip where they bring you to various sites which ends in a lovely picnic. Part of the package also includes a glass bottom tour of the island. We swam with black tip sharks, saw two turtles on two different days and varying fishes. Delicious meals are ala Carte and cooked fresh. None of that buffet nonsense except for a small buffet selection during breakfast. The meals are all included in the price and this includes free flow beers and wine. Surprisingly their Italian menu is super good. The squid ink risotto and the seafood pasta is very good. The pizza and the tuna sandwiches are very good too. I had such a lovely time that I didn’t want to leave.

Our flight out of KL to Kuala Terrengannu was delayed. We were going to miss our boat ride to the Perhentians. We were quite upset. But the way the Alunan resort and the staff handled the whole thing was a case study in travel and hospitality. We showed up at the Kuala Besutt office and were warmly welcomed. Soon we were led to the Jetty and our things were loaded up on to a more ‘public’ but immensely comfortable transfer. Once we reached Alunan it was just magic. This was an all inclusive trip and so we made the most of it with their snorkeling trips, sea turtle viewing and the sunset cruise. Being coral and environment friendly is a theme that pervades everything at Alunan. We had a chance to visit the coral Lab and see the fantastic conservation work that they are doing. The marine biologists patiently explained the work they are doing to grow corals in the lab. The snorkeling trip was great. We felt safe and cared for. Alunan ensured that we escaped the sometime crowded areas. The room was very comfortable. They give you an aluminum bottle that one can fill at the water cooler and use it for the whole stay. There were welcome snacks and a bag to carry our wet clothes around as complimentary. The wifi was good and the bathroom had toiletries that were reef safe. I learnt about reef safe sunscreens too. The swimming pool was good for lounging. The views from some of the rooms was spectacular. Our room had a terrace sit out with partial sea view which was up a flight of stairs. Even the lights in the pathways in the resort came on with a motion sensor. The straws were made of metal. The food was wonderfully prepared. The chef ensured that as a vegetarian I had adequate food choices. He came out and spoke to us. The climb up and down is a bit steep but you soon get used to it. Watch out for mosquitoes as you are in the middle of a tropical island. This is one of the best holidays we have ever had. The staff of Alunan are fantastic and caring.

Excellent eco-conscious all inclusive resort. Good food. Really helpful staff. The inclusive excursions were out of this world, swimming with Sharks and saw Endangered Turtles and snorkeling on reefs. Friendly staff. Felt so relaxed after this break.

Great all inclusive resort with top notch customer service from everyone. Staff is friendly and good selection of food. Plenty of activities to choose from to keep you occupied. Sunset cruise was really good - Murat, bartender, made one of the best cocktails. Snorkeling guide “Hakim” was fantastic.

This has to be the most expensive trip we had in Malaysia but it worth every cent. The sea around the resort is clean and full of corals and marine life. We particularly miss the baby sharks that wandering around the jetty :) And, the staffs are super friendly~

Great food, fantastic and very friendly staffs who looked after our family of 4 very well. The all inclusive accommodation package had unlimited food & beverage. The snorkeling excursions were also included and is NOT to be missed. There were also reef sharks, sea turtles and plenty of coral & marine fishes to be seen. There is also a sunset cruise, a glass bottom boat ride that is not to be missed and is also included as part of the all inclusive package.Highly recommend this boutique resort if you prefer to avoid those busy big resorts.

Reach Alunan office at Besut jetty. Place our luggage there and someone came with motorbike to take us to parking place. RM10 per car per day for parking. Smooth arrangement and we depart by boat to Alunan Perhentian Kecil. All luggage arrange by their staff. Very good for as first impression. Reach Alunan about 30 minutes and been greet by FO staff. Bring us to Reception and brief us about activities and others. Nice and so sedap the welcome drinks. Personalize check in with smile from the staff. Room was clean and smell good. Food was good. The main valuable asset for Alunan is their staff. Keep it up

We've chosen this resort for the good reviews and the unlimitted snokerling package. Indeed, the service provided by everyone there is excellent. We get to enjoy all the facilities and the staff are friendly and helpful. They are happy to help us to keep our children occupied with batik painting and board games while my husband and I are away for snokerling. The room is spacious, clean and have all the ammenities we need. We've booked a double room with an add-on bed as we wanted a more comfortable stay. The hotel upgraded us to a family room for four on the day before we checked in. The breakfast is basic but we do not expect much as the resort is located on an island. Lunch and Dinner menu are the same, you get to order everything on the menu.

Booked All Inclusive package. The staff were generally warm, both in kuala besut office and Perhentian island, there were a lot of stairs and very steep ramps to go to rooms. The room we had is spacious and there are stairs that leads up to the balcony.nice view and can hang wet clothes to dry. The package includes unlimited food and beverage, no in room dining. The food is average overall, we didn't get to have western/Italian food for dinner due to the weather, the restaurant was closed.Wonder why can't they just cook at the main kitchen(Bayu restaurant). So we sort of lose out here.However, we did get to have it on the last night there, once out of 3 nights. The teh tarik at bayu restaurant was nice. Our package included unlimited snorkeling trips too, the trips are twice a day,with different islands for each trip.Unfortunately in Sept, the weather was bad, every evening .Snorkeling trip and sunset cruise were cancelled. So we did batik painting, played congkak, foosball, adopt corals and just hang out at the beach. Oh, glass bottom tour is highly recommended as we get to see and have better understanding on the corals. In summary, we enjoyed our time in Perhentian but I don't think that the package is worth it if you go in Sept. Especially if you don't take alcoholic drinks.

Alunan Resort and its staff had provided us with impeccable service from start till end. Mr Brandon and his team were all extremely kind and attentive to our needs throughout our trip, always checking in on us to see how we were doing and if we needed anything more. The resort is also a strong advocate for protecting the environment, as shown through their dedication not only by protecting the corals, but also by minimizing wastage and smartly utilizing energy, all whilst the resort is being thoughtfully built into the landscape without machinery. They also place a great emphasis on educating guests in these areas which we felt were a great effort that should continue. The area is well preserved with a thriving aquatic ecosystem and plenty to see during snorkelling. Accommodation was spacious not only in our style of rooms but in all other room types that we had seen as well, perfect for couples or families with really nice decor as well. The resort was a culmination of beauty in the simple things, like a great view and just enough food options to get you by, which were always delicious. Highly recommended to visit Alunan at least once as its well worth the stay and more for a great relaxing and rejuvenating stay.

The room, the food served was very good. Must try, Gambas (for lunch & dinner), Keropok Lekor (for teatime). Seafood was really fresh. Just that, we need to do a small hike to our room which is located up on the hill. For the elderly, I might think it will be hard for them. So just be prepared for the hike. Also, please prepare mosquitoes repellent and cream for bites just in case you are sensitive to insect. The person in charge for our room reservation and for the whole journey Ms laili, thumbs up to her. Brandon, who in charge in the resort was fantastic too. Friendly and making sure we are comfortable. Overall, we truly appreciate the warm hospitality given to us.

My wife and I stayed there at the poolside room for four nights in mid March and loved it. The staff members are efficient communicators, welcoming and kind. The views are fabulous and we had near perfect weather. The three organized excursions included in the package add great value! There is a personal touch to this smaller resort that makes it special.
