Grand Hotel Son Net

We went there for lunch and really enjoyed our second visit. We loved the food, in particular the soft shelled crabs and grilled avocado. The location is stunning and the staff are everything you could ask for. I would recommend this for a very good lunch.

Just beautiful - everything - the setting, the house and garden everywhere you look there is another photo. The staff are amazing - everyone went over and above to help. The electric bikes were a new experience for us and one we will be repeating. What can I say - Thank you.

Having previously stayed at the wonderful Finca Cortesin we were looking forward to our stay here. Well what can I say apart from the complete and utter disappointment with this hotel which we were all so looking forward to. Let’s start with the positives mostly excellent staff and very good food. Clean and comfortable. The negatives Some staff have bad attitudes especially the maitre d of the main terrace restaurant who acted like there was no issue with the fact that we had sat for 2 hours waiting to get our starter! And the whole meal didn’t end till midnight having sat down at 8.30 The manger of the hotel was appauling and extremely unhelpful and in considerate of the fact my friend got ill having slept in what one can only describe as a fridge as his air conditioning in his room was broken and set to freezing and would not turn off just stuck on 18 degrees. And when I relayed some issues with the staff at the restaurant she didn’t believe i had been told things by her staff and basically looked at me like I was lying! When you visit a 5 star hotel you do not expect to be treated like a second class citizen. We had to move out one night early because we felt so uncomfortable staying and longer As far as I’m concerned for the price that they charge there are many better places to visit in Mallorca

Excellent hotel - we stayed here for a week in July. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, the pool is big, scenic and super relaxing. Staff are unbelievably attentive, friendly and professional. The hotel entire experience oozed grown up sophistication! The character of the hotel was very Mallorca which I loved. The only reason I gave 4/5 stars was because although the food was exceptional, the choices were limited and we were there for one week. I would suggest doing 3 nights for anyone looking to go as it does get a bit repetitive. Also we had a cottage room (with access to the private pool). The room was lovely, very nicely decorated, large bathroom and large terrace but given its such an old structure (nothing they can really do about that) the room was very dark and the air con didn’t work that well.

We spent a lovely peaceful weekend in April in Son Net. The hotel is lovely with beautiful mountain views and excellent friendly service. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant on our first night and had lunch on the bar terrace on our last day. The food was absolutely lovely and in my opinion not overpriced. Surely it is not cheap but the quality of the food and the 5 star hotel factor included ,I thought it was reasonable. My only complaint is that there was a very old TV in our room with 2 different remote contols without any advice or even a TV program leaflet. As we only managed to find 4 German channels and 1 French and Eurosport ( in English). I called the reception for advice. I was given advice how to use the remote controls but it only worked if we placed the remote only 2cm away from TV. And even then we only managed to find one more channel in Spanish. A 5 star hotel has to have more modern TV's and surely at least one news channel in English. There was a DVD player in our room and ther was a very limited choice of films at the reception. Unfortunately we never managed to get the DVD working. There is free wi-fi which was working fine during our visit. Otherwise our room was beautiful and large, bed was comfortable and there was a free minibar ( containing water and fruit juices). The pool area has beautiful views and has plenty of loungers for guests. The hotel is located in a tiny village but is only a short drive away from Palma. we didn't have a hire car but were able to take the local bus to Palma. It takes 40min and runs twice a day. In the village itself there is a couple of bars and 2 restaurants. we had pizzas which were ok and some nice house wine.

My husband and I stayed at the Sonnet for five days during a two week stay in Spain for our honeymoon in Sept. '05. While it was hard to stay in a hotel with no views of the ocean, the service, relaxation and overall luxury we found at the Sonnet made it worth it. In our early 30s, we were by far the youngest people staying there. We had the clay courts all to ourselves each day, and they had decent rackets that they loaned us. The restaurant was superb -- and my husband loved the Frette robe in the room. Just steer clear of the insanely overpriced Ketel One at the bar.
