Apartamentos la Peñita

Would have been really nice if I stopped there but got cancelled last minute and left without a hotel. Had to sleep on a bench that night. Now sleep on a couch at someone’s apartment. Not a nice experience at my age being of 74 with not knowing what to do or where to turn. Still traumatised by the whole experience

We arrived at the apartments at around 1am and was greeted by a lady at the gate who promptly got us our key for our room. Rooms are spacious and clean. I’ve seen others mention the lack of air-con. But I honestly don’t think the apartments need it. Once you have the fan in the living room on and the ceiling fan in the bedroom, it’s sufficient enough to keep the rooms cool. We had paid extra for sea view and was a little disappointed to find our room backed onto a street with a partial sea view in between the restaurants. Cleaners did a good job of keeping our apartment clean and bedding/ towels were changed every two days. The grounds, pool area was kept clean and tidy. The bar staff are an absolute credit to this hotel. They were so warm and friendly. The food and drinks at the snack bar was reasonable priced and good. One of the greatest experiences we had was feeding the little parakeets who visited our balcony most evenings. I have to say this was the highlight of our holiday. The location of this hotel is spot on. You are literally on the door stop of plenty of bars and restaurants. Two very slight negatives that I noticed with this hotel. The beds were massively uncomfortable. It was like sleeping on a bench and we got very little sleep because of it whilst we were there. Probably the most uncomfortable beds I’ve had to sleep on whilst away. I also noticed and complained about people reserving loungers. Not only that, but a few selfish people were doubling up their loungers and nothing was done about it. I complained twice on one occasion. A guy did help find me a lounger. However, nothing was done about those reserving or doubling up on loungers. In all honesty, this hotel exceeded my expectations and I would recommend it to anyone who’s considering staying here.

Stayed here from August 29th to September 5th. We were in room 135 which had fabulous pool/Seaview. Been to Puerto del carmen many times, but these apartments are by far the best we've ever stayed in. Apartment was spotless throughout. Beds were very comfy, had extra pillows in wardrobe. Living room/kitchen had everything needed for self catering if you required. We only used it for tea/coffee,as we had breakfast in pool bar and had lunch and dinner out. Ladies in pool bar/restaurant are absolutely lovely and keep place spotless. Receptionist at check-in and checkout were very helpful and professional. We would have no hesitation recommending la penita apartments to anyone. We will most definitely be staying here again next time we're in Puerto del carmen.

We have just arrived home after a lovely 13 night stay in La Penita! We arrived to the apartments at 11.30pm on the 22nd June, reception closed at 10pm but thankfully someone was there to let us into our apartment. Our apartment was huge, plenty of storage space, the bedroom had a ceiling fan which was a godsend and our 13 year old son had a couch bed in the sitting room which was very comfortable. The apartment also came with a stand alone fan in the sitting room which really helped our son to sleep! We had a side view apartment which had a beautiful view of the sea. Plenty of sunbeds although you had to be out early to get your towel down on them. Pool was lovely although if I could make one suggestion, the last step into the pool was impossible to see, and so many people tripped getting in and out so it would be advisable perhaps if this step could be marked so people don't hurt themselves! Fab pool bar, food so nice and drinks so cheap! Also cleaners came to apartments about 3 times a week, so efficient! We have been to Lanzarote so many times but our first in La Penita and it definitely won't be the last, we're already talking about booking for next year fingers crossed. Would highly recommend staying here!

Booked this last minute and was a wee bit sceptical with it only having 2 stars but the reviews convinced me it was worth a try . Well not disappointed in the least . Reception staff very polite and pleasant and made a point of saying not to reserve sunbeds . Sea view room 221 which basically gets the sun in it all day and yep gets hot but the ceiling fan and portable fan soon got it cool ..Lounge/kitchen area a cracking size with television , hotplate fridge micro wave kettle etc . Couch etc were very clean and comfy . As was the room very well cleaned . Bathroom bit on the small size but perfectly adequate . Bedroom good size with plenty of storage and hangers with a safe in wardrobe that is 15 euro for the week to hire . 3 Different notices in room telling you not to reserve sunbeds .. So first morning looks out at 7.15 and there is already at least half a dozen reserved . Looked out again at 7.45 and the towels had been removed by staff and placed on a table close by ....Same as the day went on towels removed from un attended beds . So looks like sunbed issue has been addressed . But there was always plenty of free beds during the day never had any trouble getting two . Pool like most is initially quite chilly when getting in but within minutes it is very refreshing and pleasant and a good size saw them cleaning it most mornings . Position is absolutely ideal just 30 seconds from strip but with no noise whatsoever to disturb you if your early to bed . Never used the snack bar but the prices looked very reasonable same as drink prices. Would i stay here again without a doubt excellent position and a really good room and facilities dont let the 2 stars fool you
