Il Nuraghe del Lago Coghinas

Wow. What a place. Walking around their grounds at sunset was like being in a film. It was so breathtakingly beautiful, it didn’t seem real. Staying in an actual Nuraghe was special. They have divided it into 3 guest rooms, but it’s still very obvious that you are staying somewhere that’s round. It’s cleverly done, especially given the thickness of the walls. The bed was comfortable, and the toiletries in the bathroom were thoughtful, but the lighting could use a rethink. Most tourists will want to plan what they are doing the next day, and the room was lit by just 2 bedside lamps and the bathroom was a bit dim too. The breakfast buffet was superb. Don’t miss the local goat’s milk yogurt and huge selection of toppings including local honey. The set meal for dinner was outstanding value, even for a vegetarian, at 30 euros each. It was all so good and fresh, and it just kept coming and coming. We shared multiple starters, all with generous portions. (Other tables had different starters, presumably meat-based). Our favourite was the vegetable impanadas pies, filled with aubergines, courgettes, and I don’t know what kind of deliciousness. Its pastry had perfect texture and was the best I have ever tasted. There were two different tomato dishes, one hot with melted cheese, one cold on carasau bread with a sauce. There was a bowl of flavoursome cooked mushrooms. There was a deliciously herby egg tart. There were so many dishes, I can’t even name them all. The starters were almost a meal in themselves. They were followed by melt in your mouth, cheese- filled dumplings with a tomato sauce which was outstanding. It was so good, we both ate all of this local delicacy. My husband had beef as a Secondi, which came with a few vegetables. You could see that it was succulent and cooked well. I was given a salad, which visually didn’t match the meat, but I was grateful for something light. There was a selection of desserts. Yes. We did. My husband had the Sardinian gelato. I opted for the Lemon Sorbet, which was served in a small glass with a straw, and was different to what I was expecting, but later in our trip I saw it served the same way elsewhere. It was more like a slushy drink than something solid. It was a balance of tart and lemony, yet sugary sweet at the same time. The only downside of the meal was that we overate, partly because it was so good, but also because there was no menu. The waitress explained each local delicacy as she brought it out, but every time we were given more food, we didn’t know what else was coming. We also couldn’t believe that the price we were quoted could possibly be correct, but it was, and it included the house wine. All of the staff were kind and helpful. We would definitely stay here and eat here again, and have recommended the place to friends.

Gestione familiare, Margherita è una host molto carina e accogliente. La cucina fatta da lei e dalla mamma è di ottima qualità. Relax e benessere assicurati. Entroterra sardo meraviglioso, a un’ora circa dalle spiagge a nord dell’isola.

Un bel locale, la signora Margherita gentilissima, ambiente piacevole e ottima cena con prodotti freschi del territorio. Da provare e ritornare. Prezzo giusto nella norma. Parcheggio facile e disponibile. Il territorio intorno all hotel ristorante veramente bello e suggestivo.
