Hotel Sachsenklemme

Decided to overnight on the way from Munich to Venice (I know, it's not far, but we left late on Wed so that the drive on Thurs was short), and what a GREAT idea that was. I mean, what's not to like about a brewery hotel (and that's not a question). And as others have pointed out, the restaurant, pizzeria, bar next door is pretty blumming good as well. The hotel is well presented (outside and in) service was exceptional and the breakfast was, well, if only we'd had more time... fabulous. Great selection, more than you can eat (and I can eat!) well presented and tasty. Shame we had to leave so early :( That said.. I ride a motorbike so could well be back in the summer. plenty of parking and it looks like the beer garden could be worth sitting in with a pizza (oh, did I mention it is a BREWERY?) And yes, I bought a 6 pack and am enjoying an AH while writing my review :p

We have eaten here a few times over the years on our journey and were impressed the first few times, although the service can often be slow. Highlights are accessibility from the motorway and a playpark if you have kids. The beer is also good and their theme is quirky. From other experiences pizzas were acceptable and the ribs were good. The last trip will, however, remain in our memories as one of the worst lunches in history. Restaurant completely overcrowded, the few staff overworked and complete chaos at ordering and food delivery. One expects that when meat/pasta/pizzas are all ordered there might be some delay in serving but I doubt anyone truly expects the whole table to have finished while one pizza has still not arrived after 30 mins. When we brought it up to the ill mannered (not to mention bad tempered) owner he chose to yell at us in front of the whole restaurant rather than try to find a solution. Apparently, in a restaurant this size it is completely unreasonable to expect the pizza to communicate with the kitchen, or indeed for the servers to communicate to the clients that the pizza kitchen was overloaded and there would be at least a 30 minute wait for pizzas. Maybe this is why he has so few staff. Possibly he had a bad day, but I hope if you chose to eat there you lower your expectations, and prepare your armour if you dare to express your frustration at the terrible service.

Bellissima struttura, camere pulite, servizio impeccabile. Colazione a buffet internazionale, camera ottimamente insonorizzata e ben riscaldata, abbiamo pernottato in una quadrupla meravigliosa, una delle due stanze aveva ben quattro finestre in quanto all’interno della torre.
