Unfortunately, we had the worst experience at Club Med Trancoso. Having visited several Club Med resorts before, this one felt like it didn’t belong to the same chain at all. I would not recommend it to anyone. Our troubles began the moment we landed. While we were aware the resort was far from the airport, the road conditions were terrible—pothole-filled and nausea-inducing. The driver sped through sharp turns as if we were in a Fast & Furious movie. Though we brushed it off as part of the adventure, the rough start set the tone for what was to come. We chose this location for our honeymoon—an unfortunate decision that ruined our celebration. We arrived just two days after our wedding, and I began feeling extremely sick on the first day. It felt like food poisoning combined with intense ear pain. I immediately sought help from the staff, asking for a pharmacy or hospital. I was told medications could be delivered, but only via WhatsApp communication, and the nearest hospital was two hours away. We reached out to two pharmacies—one didn’t respond at all, and the other didn’t have the recommended medication. Meanwhile, none of the staff members wearing American flags on their badges spoke English. My husband, who doesn’t speak Portuguese, couldn’t communicate with anyone, and I had to struggle through the language barrier while in pain. The miscommunication made everything even more stressful. We had booked seven nights but stayed only two. I reached out to the resort manager and customer service—both in person and online—and none of them were prepared to handle the situation. Eventually, I had a telehealth appointment with my primary care doctor, who strongly advised me to leave and seek medical attention elsewhere. The most frustrating moment came when, after informing the concierge we were leaving and needed a transfer to the airport, a receptionist casually mentioned there was a First Aid station (Enfermaria) on-site. This critical information was never shared with us despite my repeated requests for help. It was the final straw in a series of unacceptable miscommunications and lack of staff training. To make matters worse, only my portion of the stay was partially refunded as a resort credit—my husband lost his entire payment. We were left with a sour impression and a ruined honeymoon. We later decided to use the resort credit at a different Club Med location a few months later. That experience was everything Club Med is known for—professional, attentive, welcoming. It helped us realize just how mismanaged and disconnected Trancoso is from the brand’s standards. In short, the staff is not equipped to support non-Portuguese-speaking guests, and the customer service is nearly nonexistent once you arrive. They are friendly and helpful only if you’re looking to book. Beyond that, don’t expect support or professionalism. This experience was deeply disappointing and traumatic—especially on what was supposed to be one of the happiest trips
