Hotel Plaza

This is one of the finest hotels I've ever been. The staff is very helpfull and friendly, the hotel has a lovely view on the harbour and you can eat outside and enjoy the lovely view of the pearl of the Mediterranean Sea. The chambers are very clean, great airco and have all a great balcony! But: most important is the kitchen: what a great menu they offer. The cook is a hero: from antipasti - primi -secundi - dolce, always different, always superb. I call this hotel from now on 'la Superba' (sorry Genova). With a heavy heart I left this hotel, but it is my intention to come back once. Thank you for the amazing time.

A cool hotel with amazing views of the harbour(s). The hotel is about 5 minutes walk outside the town centre. You can either walk down the road (with no footpath) or there is an alternative route through houses. Whilst there is only a small beach in town, the hotel runs a free shuttle service to nearby Lido di Capoliveri with a sand beach and lots of facilities. Hotel has small but nice pool where we enjoyed early evening Aperols and Apperitivis! Nice spacious room with MASSIVE bed. We didn't even try the Spa so can't comment. Breakfast was extensive and VERY tasty, we also used the restaurant for dinner one night, and again the food was good. Special mention to "Gianluca" the restaurant head waiter who worked ceaselessly and tirelessly to deliver EXCELLENT service - thank you! I can recommend this hotel.

We paid Euro 1850 for one week which includes breakfast for 2 persons. That is about €265/night. That price is not justified by any means. The rooms with the nice view are at less than 5 meter from the reception. So need to bring your alarm as the noise will wake you up before 7am. If not, it will be the employees on the upperfloor moving tables and chairs. The bathroom is clean, basic but small. The hotel shows pictures of a pool and hammam/sauna. I did not take the measurements but the pool is likely only 2 x 4 m. The jacuzzi is for 2 persons, the sauna is actually too small for 2 persons but most of all it is not suitable for people sensitive to chloride. The hotel clearly overdoses chloride in the jacuzzi. The personnel is aimabele. The cleaning staff does a great job. The staff in the restaurant do a nice job. However, I pay the price for a 5 star and this hotel is at best a 3 star.

We loved Elba and felt like we got one of the nicest rooms in one of the nicest hotels on the island. The highlights were a very friendly, helpful and thorough welcome by Marco at the front desk, room 304 was very nicely situated with a lovely deck and amazing view, and very close to (though not immediately inside) the cute little village. We hadn’t planned on renting a car while in Italy, but Marco saw us drive up in a cab (getting the cab is it’s own story) and highly recommended we do so or we wouldn’t really be able to appreciate the island. He made that process quick and painless, and the next morning there was a car ready for us in the hotel parking lot. The room smelled nice too! The lobby however smells like you’re in the swimming pool due to the orientation of the facility. Dinners at the restaurant were fair at best and significantly overpriced. We ate there twice, the first time was decent if nothing special but the second was a bummer…and for that we paid literally double what we had paid anywhere else on our trip. Breakfast was included with our booking and that was great. Same stuff every day but a lovely selection and generous offer to have food cooked to order in the kitchen too. Unlike other hotels with automated coffee machines, these folks pull the espresso shots fresh to order too. This side of the island faces East, so the sunrises are epic if you happen to be up in time.

Wonderful vacation. We stayed in Casa Belvedere, which is a separate apartment belonging to the hotel, but about 400 meters away from the main building and right in the middle of Porto Azzurro, but with all the same services as the main hotel building, so that we had breakfast at the hotel, we could use the free shuttle to the beach AND our appt. got cleaned. The apartment itself is absolutely gorgeous and large, with two baths, a big living room, and 3 bedrooms with a beautiful view of the water and the port, like a postcard. Breakfast was amazing, with many warm and cold choices and definitely among the best at any hotel I have stayed at in Europe. The staff, from the Maitre D to the reception, to the shuttle driver were friendly, helpful and accommodating. We had a good parking spot in the hotel parking lot and did not want to move the car, so we took the hotel shuttle to Capoliveri beach almost every day, which is beautiful and perfect for families, there we were able to rent sun umbrella and lounge chairs at (for Italy during peak season) pretty reasonable prices. The only inconvenience was having to walk the 400meters uphil to the hotel for breakfast and shuttle to the beach, but the shuttle driver was nice enough to drop us off directly at the appt. and the little exercise helped us work off the calories from all the delicious food in Porto Azzurro. The pool is somewhat small, but we were too busy to use it anyways, so no problem for us. Fabulous vacation, would absolutely recommend to anyone.

A gorgeous Elba hotel. Stunning views of the marina. Yachts, blue water and blue skies. The hotel is beautiful from the rooftop pool to the breakfast patio to the comfortable and clean rooms. A 5-star Elba experience for us. JuanLuca (restaurant) and Marco (front desk) did so many wonderful and thoughtful things to delight us from a welcome glass of Prosecco to restaurant recommendations. We can’t wait to return.
