WHE Hotel

Very old hotel, with poor services, bad Wifi, small rooms, very noisy air conditioning machines, without parking, just a few things to eat during breakfast, bad-normal food quality, old bathrooms. The only good things were: good location, great staff people and clean rooms. The problem is that it seems to be one of the best hotels in Portimao… And this is a 3-stars hotel.

We stayed a few days at Whe Portimao & really liked it there. We were looking forward to the stay as they seemed to have positive reviews and the pictures looked nice. The location of the hotel was fantastic as it was a short walk to the front & marina, and was near restaurants & cafes. The room was really nice and clean with a good-sized bathroom with toiletries provided. There was ample storage space & a safe which was useful. Rooms were refreshed daily though sometimes when the towels were folded, we were not sure whether they were new towels or whether they were the ones we had used and as they were re organised, we didn't know which was whose! The breakfast room was on the 6th floor with a nice, almost 360 degree view of the surroundings. There was hot (or rather, lukewarm!) and cold food for breakfast. The hot stuff were sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, beans & either tomatoes or mushrooms. The mushrooms & bacon were a tad salty. Cold food consisted of fruit (honeydew, watermelon, apples & oranges or pineapple), ham, cheese, breads, cakes & jams. There was also cereal & yoghurt. The breads & pastries were really well-made esp the seeded bread rolls. The coffee machine was temperamental so some drinks like decaf coffee were not available though the button was lit up. Sometimes there would be an error message after the wait for a drink so you were never quite sure what you got! It was also quite slow so there was often a wait to get hot drinks. There seemed to be another machine available though not sure why it wasn't switched on. There didn't seem to be any fresh juices except for one day which we only noticed when we were leaving the breakfast room! The rest of the time it was just cordials from a machine. While we really liked the hotel esp the cleanliness, there are some niggles and areas which can be improved. The WiFi in the room was erratic so sometimes we were able to connect but not at other times. There was only 1 small bar of soap provided though we were there a few days & this wasn't replenished. The shower curtain was too long so it was a potential trip hazard in the bath. As there was no ledge round the sink, the water would drip over the side onto the floor all the time. Also the plug for the sink was not working. For some reason there wasn't a bin in the room & there was only one in the bathroom. The drawers in the wardrobe had an odd smell of mothballs. It would have been good if there a fridge and tea & coffee making facilities in the room. The carpets in the corridors looked very stained & discoloured in parts which was at odds with the presentation of the rooms. All in all, we enjoyed our stay at Whe. Location was fantastic, staff were welcoming, & the room was really nice and clean. Further small improvements will make the hotel exceptional! We will not hesitate to return should we visit Portimao again in future & would recommend this place to those visiting!

Great location near marina and not too far from the train station, good breakfast on the highest floor with a view of the the city, safe box in a room, really friendly and helpful stuff, clean lobby, dining area and the room. Also we had a lot of towels and they cleaned out our room during our visit.

Hotel muito bem localizado, decoração muito bonita, sono tranquilo, bastante confortável, com excelente café da manhã com vista do rio Arade e das imediações. Fica a uma quadra do calçadão do rio Arade.
