The Oak & Anchor Hotel

Our suite was excellent and the dinner at the Oak & Anchor was superb! We recommend the duck confit and the beef cheeks. Broccolini side was perfectly cooked. Great bottle of local Pinot. Very local, welcoming feel. Awesome. Breakfast the next morning could use some help though. Was ok, with excellent coffee, but would be easy to make very special. Would highly recommend, and Port Fairy is a beautiful town!

What a totally disappointing dining experience. Ordered the Moroccan chicken dish, it was roast chicken breast sitting atop couscous with no seasoning whatsoever on the chicken, thank god for salt! Partner had the confit duck which he enjoyed. What he didn't enjoy was the Margarita he ordered which was devoid of any alcohol. I don't particularly like tequila so had a sip and there was no hint of tequila in the drink. Sent it back to the bar commenting that 'I think they may have forgotten the tequila' heard nothing back until we went to pay and got told by the bar woman that she had not fogotten to put tequila in it and that mayb we were just not use to that particular tequila. Her attitude was appalling. Said she tried every cocktail she made before pouring, well actually she didn't try the ones she had just served up and most deffinately could not have tried ours or she would hopefully have owned up to her mistake. So over the next 20 days that we are in Port Fairy, and with plenty of other eateries to chose from, we won't be back to the Sidro.

Top Shelf Beautiful room. Open ensuite the only small issue. Oak and Anchor was very nice and we had a great sleep.

Lovely boutique hotel, comfortable, quiet, and good location to surrounding area. Restaurant on site was excellent.n

Nice enough room - Poor service. Would not recommend. Breakfast disappointing. Open toilet terrible. From checking staff very uninviting, felt we were imposing as they weren’t engaging with us. Made it up to room, bed pretty good but nothing else was.

First impressions were of a beautiful renovation of an old building. Quite quickly became apparent it was all style over substance. The set up is basically rooms over a pub/bar and staff are to be found behind the bar which appears to be their main focus. Room; It's open plan loo and not a great arrangement when both of us in room at same time. Wet room shower is very difficult to keep the shower water from splashing all over bathroom floor and making the bathroom one big wet room. No cupboards just a rail which once a few clothes pulled out of the cases looks messy. Steps between bathroom and bed need to be remembered if having pee at night. Service; asked for a booking in restaurant that evening and told fully booked try elsewhere. No offering at time of booking would we like to reserve restaurant or warning that tables not kept for hotel guests. Breakfast; literally laid out on the bar counter with limited choice. Asked for a second cup of coffee twice and waited 15 min before giving up waiting Bed comfortable and room clean. Location central but no interesting views. By far the most expensive stay on the Great Ocean Road comparable to central Sydney/Melbourne 5* Hotel prices yet in the end just a fancy styled room over a pub with strange service.
