Freestyle Resort Port Douglas

We recently stayed at the Freestyle Resort for 4 nights. Anne the owner was very welcoming and helpful in giving directions and advice on things to see and do. The Freestyle is located on the main Road ( lined with beautiful palm trees) going into Port Douglas. It is within walking distance (flat) to the town where you will find lots of shops, bars, restaurants, the waterfront (boat trips) and Coles supermarket which is great as this property is a self catering apartment. 4 mile beach is only a few mins walk from the property , A must see. The apartment itself was great. We were on the first floor overlooking the beautiful pool. There are no lifts at this property. The apt had great air con, also fans in the bedroom and on the balcony. Free wi- fi. It was very well equipped with full fridge freezer, hob, microwave, dishwasher etc. Anne even supplied dishwasher powder and a starter pack of tea/coffee milk etc. Bathroom was lovely and had plenty of towels and toiletries. Im sure if I needed any more they were available. The balcony had a table, chairs and a clothes airer on it. I thoroughly enjoyed the pool and surrounding area. It was so restful with the beautiful plants and the sun loungers. There is a BBQ area here also for those who wish to use it. There are also self laundry facilities at the rear of the property at a charge of $4. Anne was also very helpful in confirming pick ups and organising our transfers for us as our Irish phones would not allow us to make calls. Lovely quiet apartment as described on website. Comfortable bed, kitchen with all required utilities. Great location, walking distance to beach, shops and restaurants. Anne was so helpful with recommendations on outings and company to use. Thank you, we had a lovely stay.

Great location for the beach, shops and restaurants. Anne Moore was a very friendly host. Great pool to relaxing in after a day out. Laundry facilities were excellent. Highly recommended and would return. Spacious apartment - 2 bed apartment had plenty of space for 4 adults, lovely shady balcony overlooking pool. Air con very good. 👍🏻 William & Anne🇮🇪

We stayed at this property in Port Douglas and had an overall enjoyable experience. The location is fantastic, the staff were warm and welcoming, and the rooms were clean and reasonably comfortable. The pool setup is beautiful and feels like a little oasis, though the water temperature was a bit too warm to fully enjoy. The shower pressure was excellent, and the air conditioning kept the room cool, even if it did rattle slightly. However, the property feels more like serviced apartments than a resort. There’s no housekeeping, minimal amenities (just a vending machine), and the photos on the website showing food options and other amenities were a little misleading. Storage was limited, with no drawers, hangers, or luggage racks, which made unpacking a bit tricky. Parking was the biggest challenge—the provided garage was often full and hard to navigate, so we ended up parking on the street a block away. Privacy in the two-bedroom unit was also a bit lacking, with slatted doors and no door on the bathroom, which might be an issue for some. That said, this is a charming and special place and a good value. If you’re looking for a clean, budget-friendly option in a stunning location and don’t mind a few tradeoffs, it’s definitely worth it.

We had an amazing stay at Freestyle Resort! We booked a 2-bedroom hotel room. The room was a duplex with 2 separate bathrooms. The rooms were really beautiful, spacious and clean and we had a nice terrace, we had everything we needed! The swimming pool was great and there were laundry facilities. The hotel is very well located, on walking distance from the city center. Anne was extremely friendly and helpful, she gave us many recommendations and advice. I definitely recommend this place! We can’t rave about the fantastic service we received enough! We booked 8 months in advance and a week before we arrived, Anne advised that the highway between cairn and port Douglas would be closed due to the Ironman event that day. This was the day she had noted we were arriving and true to her assumptions, we would have endured significant delays traveling to freestyle from cairns. Thanks to her heads up, we were able to rearrange our entire trip to make sure the road closure didn’t affect us. We are so grateful and thankful. Upon arrival, Anne was like a walking talking review site herself! Giving us hot tips on the best food/coffee/tourist attractions as well as travel times needed to get to them all. We subsequently enjoyed a beautiful dinner at her recommendation of restaurant. What the unit lacked in terms of being a little tired, was made up for by the wonderful service. We had everything we needed in order to thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Thank you Anne!
