The best property in Port Blair to stay in if you're on budget. Located uphill at Machiline, Shadipur, close to all attractions like cellular jail (6 mins), jetties (15 mins), main market, most restaurants and airport (15 mins) each of which cost mere 50-60 rupees in an auto-rickshaw. Rooms, both double and triple beds, are huge, bathrooms are clean and spacious, and the room rate you pay is lower than any other similar property with much smaller rooms... The balcony cum common space in the 2nd floor has a decent sea view. The best part of the homestay is its owner Arshad and his family ***** with the housekeeping guy Javed. They are ready to help you with any request, and you don't need to worry about any travel agent, car, driver when Mr. Arshad is here who plays the role of the best tour planner at no extra cost. The drivers/contacts he provided for Port Blair (Parvez), Havelock (Amit Biswas/Deepankar) as well as for entire North Andaman (Rashid, a gem driver cum guide) were all excellent in terms of driving, behaviour, guidance and professionalism.. Arshad even gave us contacts for water sports in Havelock at the lowest possible cost who provided us the best scuba experience ever. I am indebted to Arshad ji and Andaman Ocean Breeze for making the 9 days Andaman trip a perfectly smooth and memorable one for our entire family including three senior citizens. In addition, they even managed to decorate the room and provided cake on my father's birthday during the stay to make the occasion even more special for him. Only cons: Location, as already mentioned, is a little uphill, and difficult to walk up to the property, and it's unlikely to always find an auto-rickshaw outside. However, one can keep the phone numbers of few auto-rickshaw drivers, and call them anytime... Otherwise have to wait outside the homestay for an empty running auto-rickshaw to pass by.
