Hotel Materada Plava Laguna

We were having a group visit and the hotel got a list of guests, but they couldn't place us in the right rooms, and instead of that the underage receptionists have been very rude while their superior manager was standing next to them stiff as a tree, unwilling to resolve the situation. My colleague wanted to cancel his stay and get a private accomodation instead. As I was passing by, I have even heard some similar situations with other guests. So, if you can avoid it, my recommendation is that you do, or in case you're in a mood for arguing with the hotel staff lacking common basic culture which people normally get during their home upbringing, and not to mention the lack of communication skills, this hotel might be the right choice! 😃 I've been traveling a lot around the world, but still I managed to be taken by surprise here in Croatia...

The elevator didnt work, one only worked for 2 floors and the second one only worked for 3 floors. It was a real struggle because we were traveling with a person in a wheelchair. In the hotel there are only 3 elevators witch is to few and the 3th didnt go to all floor. Also our room had a pool view and they had some entertainment until 11-12 everynight and the rooms are not soundproofed. So little sleep for us. The curtains in our room were to short so all the sun came in our room every morning.

My husband and I booked the hotel as a last minute cheap deal and on first impressions we were impressed. The hotel is in a nice setting with well tended gardens and a short walk to the seafront promenade, great if you want to lie around the pool all week but we found it too cut off. There are no local buses in the area at all and the small tourist train was 1km away and had very restricted times being early season. A taxi into porec was £20 each way. Hotel food was typical for a large tourist hotel and we always found something to eat. The bedrooms however are extremely small and very basic no storage cupboards or drawers for anything at all.the bathrooms are so small the shower door wouldn't open fully as banged into the toilet and the bathroom door couldn't open fully due to the towel rail behind it. You get bigger bathrooms on cruise ships ! The main down side was the constant stream of tourist coaches which used the hotel on a daily basis ( 8 full coaches on one particular day )which left the hotel more like a travel lodge motel and not like a relaxing away from it all holiday break. In all an OK hotel for the money we paid but not somewhere we would return to unless in a coach party.

My partner and I stayed here the first week off October. We booked a package holiday (half board) with easyJet holidays. Grounds and surroundings to the hotel were kept extremely clean and tidy and the views were great, especially from our balcony. I did like it how calm and peaceful it felt, as well as very safe. There is a path at the bottom of the hotel which you can follow to some nice beach bars. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Big shout out to the guy doing the ice creams, he went above and beyond. Only issue was the food was very plain and simple. Highly recommend this hotel, especially if you are after a more peaceful resort.

Check in strictly after 2. 3 lifts however only 2 go to dinning/pool. They also break down due to the amount of people using them. The rooms on both side are the same it's just the view that's different. Rooms are clean, bathroom is good, no tea or coffee in the room. We went to Lidl for a kettle etc. The pool is freezing but the sea is ok, however, it is difficult to get in if you have mobility issues. Night time entertainment is ok but not done by the animation team, they have local acts come in. Service for drinks is good, they would still like Kuna instead of Euro and I suggest you pay everything in Kuna as the exchange rate somewhat changes by the hour. Sunbeds can be a problem by the pool. Towels at dawn! The car park get very full and you will not get the same spot when you come back. The taxi firm is 13 euro into Porec we used Taxi Porec Marko, google and use messenger, lovely man. Parking in Porec can be hit and miss and is 1 euro p/h. Boat trips book on the harbour. The hotel is a lot of money for what you get, we drove and for the same price, 4 B&B on way down, 6B&B on way back, fuel, ferry, lunches and dinner, could have got Jamaica AI for 2 weeks. This is not the best coast line in Croatia, and it will be out last time, (we have driven 5 times).

Animation team were super cool and kind. One time when nobody else come to afternoon aerobic one girl danced with my 11 year old daughter whole 45 minutes! They were realy fun, helpful and wonderful with kids. Otherwise, pool is great and hotel is very clean. Animation in the evening was olso great, music and show.
