We spent 2 nights at Nine Dots at the end of our vacation to Portugal. It was a planned stopover in the Azores and a chance to explore a new place. The location was perfect for us, in the old part of the Ponta Delgada. We were able to walk and explore and enjoy our time in the building. The hotel has been thoughtfully designed and includes was feels like a miniature art gallery on each floor. We were on the 4th floor of the hotel and right outside our door was a window seat, a small desk, a bookshelf and window with a side view of the church bells. As an early riser, it was great to be able to do my morning writing while my husband slept. We were able to take advantage of the restaurant on site a couple of times enjoying the flatbread coming out of the wood fired oven and the specials of the evening. The wine was local to Portugal and the staff knowledgeable. My husband loved swimming in the saltwater pool and my massage was one of the best I have had. It was relaxing, refilling and a perfect balance of exploration and resetting.

I hardly have the words or space to describe the serene beauty of this lovely hotel -- just book it! The hotel is small and though full of contemporary art exudes old world charm. The staff are all lovely and accommodating, the food healthy and delicious, and I particularly appreciated the beauty of every little thing in the room - bedding, handmade ceramic cups, wool blanket throws, lively tiles, etc. etc etc! But the pièce de résistance (and the main draw for me) was the pool! Our stay at Nine Dots was too brief but I made sure to maximize my time in the wellness center : ) You will not regret chosing Nine Dots - central location on a pedestrian only street.

Perfect new hotel in Ponta Delgada - beautifully appointed spacious and tastefully decorated rooms, with tall windows and perfect shutters. Excellent beds, with good mattresses and comfortable pillows. Awesome breakfast, with both buffet and cooked to order healthy options. Great coffee. Very nice in-house restaurant, if you don't want to go out on occasional night. Conveniently located parking garage. Absolutely great, friendly, efficient and helpful stuff in both hotel and hotel's restaurant. Every small detail at Nine Dots is perfectly executed. Hard to praise it enough!

Although the hotel was lovely, the location perfect,and the spa divine it was the INCREDIBLE STAFF that made our stay perfect! We spent 5 nights at nine dots and everyone from front desk, waiters, bartenders and limo drivers were friendly, knowledgeable and kind.

An excellent stay, friendly and helpful staff, beautiful hotel, full of art, exquisitely detailed and appointed rooms, delicious breakfasts, great cocktails and tasty snacks (we didn't eat in the restaurant, too much choice around town and the rest of the island). All right in the heart of Ponta Delgada walking distance to all kinds of restaurants and with free bikes available to go further.

We just got home from our amazing stay at Nine Dots boutique hotel. It couldn’t have been a more perfectly situated place from which to explore Sao Miguel by day and then, at night, stroll around Ponta Delgada’s historic center and its beautiful tiled, pedestrian streets. Many nice restaurants are just a few steps away! Perhaps the best thing about Nine Dots is its exceptionally friendly staff, especially those at the front desk who went out of their way to be accommodating, including offering us a late check-out so we didn’t have to sit in the airport all day awaiting our flight. The hotel’s restaurant has sidewalk tables to enjoy a bottle of wine. The pool has to be experienced! It seems like a Roman bath, utterly relaxing, particularly after driving around the island all day. We recommend splurging for a premium room with balconies overlooking Rua dos Mercadores. It’s so worth it!

Truly amazing experience. Probably the best hotel we have stayed at. There is nothing negative we can say about our stay at this gem of a hotel. Each guest is invited to a welcome wine and cheese event. Pedro, the general manager, personally escorted us to our rooms and explained everything we needed to know about the hotel. He spent time with us chatting. Breakfast was included with choices from a menu and buffet. Rooms were tidied each day and turn down service offered at night. Each room was furnished with water, beverages, fruit and sweets. There was a coffee machine as well. Staff were attentive to every need and request we had. The hotel provides a book that describes the origin of the building which comes with a postcard. Each guest is invited to write a note to themselves which will be mailed from the hotel a year from their stay. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
