Apartamentos Don Miguel

Amazing place reccomend, pool very quiet for august and me and my family had a good week here at don miguel and it is a very budget friendly place!

Excellent value for money; rooms better than the pictures, staff lovely and helpful Came for a weekend break with friends. Was apprehensive from previous reviews however we were pleasantly surprised. Room was clean, 3 of us shared. AC in 2 rooms. Little balcony to get beach stuff dried. Breakfasts were good and you could ask for cooked breakfast if you wanted. Everything is pretty much walking distance in Puerto Pollensa so this is well placed. Please get some more pics on the website and big yourselves up. Looking forward to returning and thank you again.

For us, this hasn’t got the ‘wow’ factor. The whole complex is really clean and well maintained. The apartments are in 2 blocks, one of them being over the road. The buildings are 3 storeys high. There are no lifts, with steep flights of stairs to the upper apartments. If you have mobility problems, it would advisable to mention it, as there appears to be a limited number of ground floor apartments. I didn’t advise that I have problems walking up stairs and was allocated a first floor apartment. I advised that I couldn’t walk up the stairs and was told that they only a a limited number of ground floor apartments. We were lucky to be given a ground floor apartment. Also, there is no disabled access to the swimming pool and as the area around the pool is quite narrow (and sun beds take up most if the space available) it’s not easy to walk around. The apartment we were given was ok. It was very clean. I wouldn’t say it was comfortable. We had a table and four chairs. A very high sofa bed, of which was too high and hard to sit on. We had a kettle and a toaster, but as there were no sockets around the cooking area. There was an extension multi plug adapter. The microwave was on top of the fridge freezer and was really awkward to use. The apartment had single beds, which couldn’t be pushed together, as the headboards were attached to the wall. There are no safes in the actual apartments. These are allocated at the reception. The bathroom was good. It had lots of space to put your toiletries and there was plenty of hot water. You have to request a change of towels. We were not given any information on how to get clean towels, so I took the used towels to the reception The receptionist seemed less than pleased. I changed the towels twice and I still don’t know the correct way! We had to watch the number of appliances, that we used when we cooked. On one occasion, when the electric tripped, we couldn’t reset it ourselves and I had to go to reception to reset it. The receptionist knew which room it was before I told him and he had to go into a backroom to deal. The reception isn’t 24 hours. I’m not sure what we would have done if it had been closed. There are shops nearby. We found them to be really expensive. There is a large Eroski Center, a 15 minute walk along the Ma222 road. If you use the bus service, it’s a lot cheaper to Tap Off/Tap On using your bank card, otherwise it’s €4.50 per person, per journey.

A lovely, friendly family run hotel. The apartments are slightly basic but have the essentials and are kept very clean and maintained. The grounds are beautifully kept. It has a bar and a lovely pool. There is storage for bikes. There is a hairdryer, iron and board in the apartments and a well equipped kitchen. There is a safe available in the main reception area for a small daily charge. The tourist tax was reasonable. Some British TV channels are available - I think there should be more but they were having teething issues with the installation. We stayed in the apartment block across the road from the main building, which was a little inconvenient for the pool but not that bad. The apartments in this block are all East facing so they get the morning sun until just after lunch. Even so, they’re still pleasant to sit out in the evening. Location wise, there are 3 fantastic restaurants in the same road and some more along the prom which is a 5-10 minute walk depending on your ability. There are a few bars along the road, just far enough away not to cause noise. They do live music on most nights and show the big football matches too. I would recommend to couples, families with older children and cyclists.

I am puzzled by the positive comments given for this accommodation. I can only assume that previous reviewers have not experienced any of the other wonderful options available in the resort. Having stayed over many years at various other places my experience here fell miserably short. I would make make the following points: - If you don’t want to or can’t carry a heavy case up many steps, don't stay here. The same applies if you have mobility issues as there are numerous steps to climb. Also the main outside building steps when wet get dangerously slippy. - If you travel in a group don’t expect to get a room located together or even in the same building/site.This is even if you have made the request and emailed weeks ahead and then asked again on arrival. - If you are allocated a ground floor room opposite the pool area, be aware that the rooms above and across the road are about six times bigger! - If reception staff insist you sign a hand written disclaimer to say that they have resolved your issue (even though they haven’t) in order to absolve all liability, don’t sign it. If they persist then see your holiday Rep. I understand that sometimes what is pleasant and acceptable for one person is not for the next. With that in mind I look forward to my next stay in wonderful Puerto Pollensa. However, guess what it won’t be at the Don Miguel………Adios.

Just arrived at the Don Miguel - Puerto Pollensa - stayed here lots of times in the main hotel - loved it - this time we have been given an apartment in the building across the road - not happy - its like going back in time... they didn't even give us the wifi code...not that it matters ...
