"We arrived very late so check in was our room keys left on the reception.. we were greeted by a very friendly and kind English man & ginger cat.. We stayed for 4 nights. Over the coming days we got talking with the manager & other staff members who were all very friendly. The manager in some reviews is put down as” rude” however we didn’t find this the case. Don’t expect too much from the hotel, you get what you Pay for. The ginger kitten is super friendly & a little bit of a menace.. loves interaction from humans. Transfers to the hotel from the airport are quite expensive - do some research and pre book or find a local taxi service. We used nisso’s taxis whilst staying in the area & we found them very good value. Polis itself is small but has some lovely places to eat one being saddles bar. Look into getting the buses to explore a bit further out - the prices are very very good value!"

"A lovely, welcoming place to stay right in the heart of Polis. The room was clean, fresh, spacious, and elegant. In the morning, the sun flooded in and there was a small balcony just outside, with a table and chairs to enjoy the view of the mountains in the distance. The service was exceptional and unparalleled, the staff always smiling and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was generous and with a good choice. Great coffee/tea too. We would really recommend."

"We booked five suites at Anassa eight months in advance (December for an August stay) for a major family reunion of 10 adults and 8 children traveling from different countries. Having stayed at true luxury properties worldwide, our experience here fell shockingly short of basic hospitality and guest safety standards. It is baffling how this property maintains high ratings, unless expectations are set by guests unfamiliar with true 5-star service. SEVERE SAFETY & HEALTH INCIDENTS Guest safety and duty of care were nonexistent: Dog Bite & Medical Mishandling: An adult in our group was bitten by another hotel guest's dog on the property. The bite subsequently became infected. The dog's owner continuously stalled providing vaccination records, raising serious concerns that the animal was unvaccinated and requiring escalated medical care. Hotel management completely abandoned communication with us regarding the matter, failed to provide a doctor until a day and a half after the incident, and then shockingly attempted to charge us for part of the medical treatment. Stray Animals: One of the children was scratched by a stray cat inside one of the hotel restaurants. ROOM ALLOCATION & DISHONESTY Months ahead, we requested suites located close together near the pool. Days before arrival, management emailed us stating they could not place us near the pool because they prioritized keeping our entire family together in one designated area. We accepted the compromise. Upon arrival, we found our five suites scattered across three completely separate "clusters" of the property, far from the pool and far from each other. Rather than taking accountability, front desk staff attempted to gaslight us by claiming the rooms were "in the same area," directly contradicting the resort's own map. INEFFICIENT FRONT DESK & DISREGARD FOR GUESTS Despite completing online check-in in advance, arrival was chaotic and slow. With exhausted children after an early flight, we gave the team 90 minutes during lunch to resolve the room situation. They never followed up. After multiple calls, a staff member arrived at our table empty-handed, offering zero solutions, zero sincere apologies, and no service recovery, only an impractical suggestion to pack up and switch rooms halfway through a 4-night stay. DAILY SERVICE & OPERATIONAL BREAKDOWNS Staff Attitude: Ordering drinks by the pool felt like an inconvenience to the staff, met with visible eye-rolling and audible grunts. When a bellboy delivered luggage to the wrong room, he flatly refused to redirect it to the correct suite. Severe Buggy Delays: Placed at the farthest reaches of the property, we had to rely on buggy transport. Several times we waited over 25 minutes for a ride, only to be met with excuses about how busy they were. If a sprawling resort cannot manage guest transport during high season, it needs to invest in more buggies. Property Upkeep: We encountered broken elevators and visibly moldy shower heads in the suites. Ana"

"Absolutely lovely hotel. The staff were AMAZING and could not do enough for you. The rooms were spotless and cleaned daily. The food was abundant with multiple choices for even for the fussiest eater. The surrounding area felt safe and multiple restaurants are within walking distance to the beach and harbour. I would like to mention the standout people I met - Jackie, Andri and Miss Phoebe who took the time each and every day to say hello to all the visitors. Without a doubt, if you are going to staying near Polis then don’t bother looking around - just book in at the Amanthea."

"Absolutely perfect.....just what we needed, a hotel with no entertainment just to chill out and enjoy each others company. Hotel a little dated but doesn't bother us. Staff brilliant from the reception staff, bar staff and waitresses, even the pool guy!. We was HB, so a plentiful breakfast to graze....the evening meal was nice too, lovely salads and always something nice either chicken, pork of stifado etc with dishes such as veg, rice potatoes. The desert was brought to your table. Drinks not to badly priced a caraf of wine €10 or beer for €4.30. Pool area lovely, always beds, beach rugged and pebbly you defo need swim shoes but lovely to swim in. Turtles visible if you look, and nests protected on the beach. An easy 20 min walk into Polis or Taxi €10 each way ( worth it if hot or later at night) however decent lit road but no paths, felt safe though!. Grounds nice, manager visible every day and very polite. Great sunset every evening a bit different so lots of photos. Overall if its a quiet relaxing holiday you need this place is ideal...just don't be to picky. Hidden gem!!!"
