The resort is a big okay & I’m not picky., but, for price I expected more. Typical resort, NOTHING special….. two small pools overrun with children & pool scum around the perimeter of the pool. For a resort of this size & caliber the pools are lacking. I would never choose a chair by the pool unless you want to listen to screaming children. There are loungers in a grassy area overlooking the ocean which is nice, but if you want an umbrella it’s $35/day. Poipu beach is accessible from the resort , but extremely crowded because of the public access next door . Additionally, patrons from neighboring resorts come & take chairs in the grassy areas because no one seems to monitor this, seriously disappointing for a Marriott. Because the resort is next to a huge public parking lot so people are not only coming & going all day, but worse, local teenagers are hanging out in the public parking area until late into the night. Hale 5, 6 & 7 all have rooms that overlook this parking lot & should be sold at a discount …..paying $1000- $1200/night isn’t fair for those rooms. We started our stay in Hale 6 (even though I called twice before arrival stating I absolutely do not want a room overlooking the public parking lot)upon check in, we arrived around 2 pm & got our room at 4pm…. The young man checking us in stated I see your request for NO Parking lot views & could not disclose our location at 2pm, but assured us we were in a beautiful location. Obviously, he was lying since our room was in hale 6 overlooking the parking lot. So incredibly disappointing. Thankfully, Glenda at the front desk moved us to Hale 8 (but we had to check out of our room at 10am the next morning & couldn’t get to new room until 4pm - big inconvenience when you pay $1000+/day)…. Again, rooms overlooking the public parking lot should definitely be sold at a discount. It should be noted: rooms are very nice, with very comfortable beds. Also, Kaua’i is amazing, I would just find somewhere else to stay. Sorry Marriott, I think you are taking advantage of customers if you sell them an “ocean view room”, but they actually overlook a public parking lot with a little peek a boo view. Very deceptive.
