Invicta Hotel

As usual we had a great trip to Plymouth, positioned right on The Hoe, the rooms are really comfortable and with everything you need and all the staff just make the stay more special because their customer service is excellent and it feels like you are an extended part of the family, thank you. See you next year 😎

Without a doubt this is one of the best hotels I've visited in Devon. Upon arrival I was warmly welcomed by friendly staff and Owners. The relaxed ambience in the lounge was just devine. A perfect retreat in which to unwind & escape. The food in the hotel restaurant was delectable. Lip-smackingly delicious! I highy recommend this hotel to others and I absolutely will return. All credit to be given to the lovely family who run this hotel for their excellent hospitality.

Hosts @ Invicta-10 - very friendly and welcoming- bed was a twin which was quickly corrected, given complementary Tea/Coffee as an apology. Facilities @ Invicta -9- room very modern and newly refurbished - sadly bathroom not as high spec as room. Evening meal -10- freshly cooked and delicious - the bar is well stocked and inviting. How clean @ Invicta -10- perfect Breakfast @ Invicta-10- good Continental choice - freshly cooked to order - the little things made it a 10 ‘jam pots’ , fresh fruit salad & ‘Sue’ who was very friendly, warm & welcoming, noting was too much trouble - Sue is a true asset to The Invicta Hotel. Would we stay again YES The Hotel is perfectly situated with a short walk to ‘The Hoe’, the town centre and the waterfront. WiFi not great, this is more due to the area rather than the hotel. Free Parking is at the rear of the hotel

We booked direct to check our particular requirements can be met. As normal at the time of booking your credit card details are taken along with your particulars. We requested a parking slot. Was taken aback when on arrival full payment was requested which was unusual we were staying for 6 nights. We were informed the room would not be serviced for the duration of our stay had we booked for longer I assume the sheets and towels would start to smell. The bed is incredibly comfortable as are the pillows. Next morning I mentioned to Roy that the shower caddy was very rusty. This was explained away as something which is unavoidable due to the products used and the steam cleaning method employed removing the chrome finish. No replacement was offered. However our sponges became rust stained. The breakfast is very hearty thick cut bacon proper sausages, mushrooms, hash browns, tomatoes and eggs done to your requirements with toast and fruit juice. Tea and coffee a plenty served with a very warm welcomibg smile from Sue and other staff. Free Parking enough for 8 cars at the back and off the road which can be an issue in all popular places. Location is good only a brisk 5 min walk to the centre or the marina Barbican area across the hoe or down the back streets. There is an issue with the shower not maintaing it's heat setting and adjusting the gauge if you have dexterity issues which perhaps can be addressed in the future. The towels are thick and Uber soft and fluffy lovely. The toilet wifs and the air fresher struggles. Slipped up in the shower Roy said there is a mat but none appeared. We requested an extra chair which duly arrived. Storage space for longer stays is tight but there is a safe at an easily accessible height and deep enough to store a laptop. Ample sockets with usb ports. We were woken at 2.30am by someone banging about. We were loaned a fan as it was very hot and had heat stroke.

Fantastic hotel Kevin and his staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Room was lovely and clean, breakfast was fantastic and food freshly cooked. Honestly the best hotel I’ve stayed at in a very long time. We will definitely be staying again.

When booking we looked at the different options available and decided to upgrade to a super king suite, the room we booked was not that! So much so that we had to go back to reception to ask them to check we’d been assigned the correct room, unfortunately, we had! The carpets, blinds and bed sheets were all stained, the room was pokey and the bathroom was like an 80’s throwback with a very temperamental shower. The room said it had a ‘courtyard view’ what it means is ‘overlooks the car park’. Location was good and the dining staff were very friendly though. At £136 off peak we felt this was grossly overpriced. Wouldn’t stay again and definitely question the scores on here!
