Invicta Hotel

Promotes itself as a four star hotel which is why we chose it, it was grubby, the toilet roll was plonked on top of towel rail and tv was intermittent. They sent an email confirmation with a menu for the restaurant and on arrival were told it’s not worth them opening. The staff were friendly but the overall grubbiness and inability to cater for guests at breakfast, people were waiting in the lounge are for tables to become available,showed it doesn’t deserve a four star rating. Won’t be returning.

I am amazed that the reviews are so good for this place. I stayed for a business trip during freshers week so most hotels were fully booked leading me to book here. The reviews were good so felt comfortable that it would be satisfactory for 1 night. How wrong could I be. From the outside it looks like a modern contemporary building - from the inside it’s about as opposite as physically possible. The decor is like something out of faulty towers, you are handed a big bulky key to lug around that you aren’t allowed to take with you from the premises, both stagf that I interacted with on check in/out were incredibly rude and patronising, the only word to describe the room is abysmal. The door opened into a bedside table, the shower didn’t work, the room was smaller than a cupboard, the decor was from 1950, the door physically didn’t shut and did not have a handle so had to try and wedge my nails into the wood to pull it shut, I refused to eat in the restaurant due to my disappointment with the rest of my experience so cannot comment on the food, I was so dissatisfied that I tried booking into somewhere else but to no avail. I am honestly staggered that the reviews are so good for this hotel I can only think that the other reviewers are comparing it to a tent in a field, but even then I think I would pick the tent. Avoid at all costs.

Really enjoyed our one night stay. Friendly and helpful staff, room was very clean. Great location by The Hoe and walking to the Barbicon for restaurants, cafes. Car park was very useful. To finish off a super full English breakfast. Will certainly stay here again on next visit.

An absolutely beautiful hotel. Fantastic friendly staff. Spotless room. Superb breakfast. On arrival greeted by the owner, who brims with obvious passion for the hotel. Nice easy check in and we were able to park our car in the hotel car park, (much cheaper and safer than parking it on the road). Will definitely rebook the next time I’m in Plymouth

You feel like part of the family! The most remarkable stay I've had since staying at hotels. You get this feeling because the employees treat you so well that you can only imagine that they must also be treated well by their employer, which of course naturally gives me a good feeling about the entire stay. The real value here is also in the quality breakfast that was included with my stay, the love they put into everything they do makes me want to think of no other hotel that I would rather book with when staying in Plymouth.

Very friendly staff they could not do enough for you. Breakfast was of the highest standard and whatever you wanted they provided. Location was perfect for our trip. Room clean tidy and well decorated. Room information pack and website needs updating as they say about food and the Bowline restaurant but there is no food only breakfast and the Bowline restaurant is closed. Will definitely stay again and recommend to people.
