Hotel Club Amigo Costasur

Six of us stayed at the CostaSur for 2 weeks in January 2024, our second visit. It was a bit strange. The resort was about 20% full This meant that the a la carte restaurant and the gym were closed and the evening entertainment was on about twice a week. When we complained, we were given a lobster dinner in the almost deserted cafeteria. But there were advantages to the low occupancy. It was very quiet and relaxed. No problem finding a lounger on the beach. And the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was well prepared but bland with limited selection.There was always enough food. When we got bored with the food we went into Trinidad and ate very well. There are other positives. The beach is the best place to swim on the Ancon Peninsula. The Bungalows are huge and overlooking the beach.  The proximity to Trinidad made up for the shortcoming In the end we all agreed that, in spite of the problems, we were glad we stayed there and would return in the future. To summarize: the Costasur is not a good place to stay if you want to party or if you are a foodie. But its great if you are looking for a quiet, inexpensive place to say if you want to relax and spend time in Trinidad.

This is such a very strange resort. When we stayed there were barely any guests and so we were told that meals would be A La Carte. The first night there they asked if I wanted chicken or pork for the main course. I ordered chicken but they returned and told us that they didn't have it! That dinner consisted of 2 tiny quarters of white bread, a small plate of salad, a plate of white rice and a plate containing the tiniest port chop and two teeny sweet potatoes. We were not offered desert. The chop was well-seasoned but all bones. My husband (2 metres tall so needs calories) was absolutely furious knowing that we'd paid a lot more to stay there than we did in Varadero(where there was a huge buffet daily, unadulterated beer, beautiful pool, entertainment of some kind for most of the day, a panoramic sea view, very comfortable beds and a hot rainfall shower). He said that it's the same kind of food that many Cubans would have (he's Cuban).He demanded they bring more plates of food which they did. I'm not a big red meat eater so went to bed hungry. The menu is the same every day for breakfast. The lunch and dinner menus are just the one menu with the same thing every day. For breakfast you get 2 tiny rolls or miniature toasts with boiled eggs or fried eggs. You can have a plate of fruit. There is juice but the papaya didn't have any flavour to it, maybe it was watered down. Only on the last morning was I offered cheese and had 2 teeny slices of cheese with spam (neither of us could eat the spam, anyone would have thought we were in a war!). Lunch and dinner are two small bread rolls with a teeny know of butter, a plate of salad, a plate of rice and a chicken/pork/beef (one day) fillet. My husband said the beef was as tough as old boots. You could also have one small pudding (they didn't have ice cream) and you can have fruit. I don't really eat pork so had the same chicken fillet daily for both lunch and dinner! My husband usually drinks Cristal beer but couldn't in the restaurant as they'd decanted it into plastic bottles and it was flat. Elsewhere in the resort some of it had been doctored (strange large bubbles) and we suspected that someone was selling off some of the real thing on the black market and giving us something else! There was no music or entertainment and the swimming pool only had a few inches of water in it (insufficient for a swim, it was practically empty) the whole time that we were there. Don't advertise that you have a pool if it's empty! We were told that people just go there to relax. That's fine but even if you're going there to relax you're not going there to die! A holiday is for living! When you think of Cuba you think of Salsa, about music, dance and life, there was none of that there! If you're looking for an authentic Cuban experience don't stay there! The bungalow had a great setting (in front of a natural lagoon with mountains to the right) but there was no hot water at all and the air conditioning couldn't be adj

Those who have been to Costasur before will be in awe of the improvements. It is absolutely stunning what they have done to the reception area and the dining room and the bars and the pool area and the bungalows. While the restorations were going on, people (from Canada at least) were sent toca neighboring resort (considered to be an upgrade), but any Canadians I spoke with preferred Costasur. Especially the bungalows. Great, attentive staff. Good food. A real gem.

Pasé unas vacaciones maravillosas en el hotel con mi familia, la puesta de sol mas linda la observas en la piscina natural, tiene un snack muy bonito , la comida es muy rica . La animación se corresponde con el hotel , mi familia y yo la pasamos muy bien.

Il y a plusieurs années, nous étions allés au Costasur et avions aimé. Depuis, le Costasur a été renové et il a vraiment de la gueule pour un 3 étoiles. Les lieux sont propres, bien entretenus. Le personnel est de base: font le minimum requis, pas très avenant et ce même avec les pourboires. Très peu de sourires. Comme il y a le Mélia tout neuf juste a coté, il me semble que ceux qui sont au Costasur sont ceux qui n'ont pas eu la chance de se faire engager au Mélia, donc subissent leurs sorts. Les deux premiers jours, pas d'eau chaude, ensuite, pas d'eau, pas d'electricité, on s'en fait pas trop car c'est Cuba et on sait qu'il y a des manques. Le BUFFET: à tous les jours, pendant 10 jours, la même chose. Vraiment !! le matin, jus tellement étiré a l'eau qu'il n'a aucun goüt, petites crêpes, oeufs. Le midi et le soir , du porc, des oeufs, des pâtes,2 sortes de fruits ( toujours les mêmes ) , riz, pain, quelques légumes frais, patates douces et courges. Aucune variété. That's It ! Je comprends que c'est un trois étoiles, donc on ne s'attend pas a un 5, mais depuis 12 ans que nous venons a Cuba, dans des 2.5, 3 et 3.5 étoiles, ces derniers étaient vraiment supérieur en nourriture et en staff. Il y a aussi eu un gros problème d'hygiène, car nous étions plusieurs, incluant la femme de chambre, à avoir des gastros ! Y revenir, non merci !

Nous avons beaucoup aimé notre séjour, nous étions dans un petit bungalow face à la mer et la plage à quelques 75 pieds. Nous sommes très satisfaits considérant l'emplacement, la quiétude de l'endroit et la bouffe. C'est Cuba, le prix était excellent, la bouffe également, par contre aucun poisson ou fruits de mer mais le reste de la bouffe était très bon. Amenez votre vin car aucun de disponible, mais la bière et le rhum à profusion. Pendant 1 semaine, nous n'avons fait que de la plage, aucune visite de la ville donc que du repos. Le site/ l'emplacement, la plage, tout était très propre et nous avons été agréablement surpris de notre bungalow. Pas manqué 1 seule fois d'eau ou d'eau chaude. C'est très bien comme hôtel, nous avons très bien apprécié notre séjour du 12 au 19 janvier, 2024. P.S. les couchers du soleil y sont magnifique.

Un petit bijou Cubain! Le resort a été renové avec un gout de modern. Propre, la bouffe est bonne, répétitif, avec quand un bon choix. Les bungalows sont très beaux, il y a de l'eau chaud à tout les jours et les lits sont quand même comfortable. Sur le bord de la plage ou ce trouve la 'piscine' naturelle de la mer...WOW! Belle endroit pour le snorkling. Les gens sont acceuillants et très gentils. Recommandé pour ceux qui cherche la grosse paix😉

J'avais pas d'attente avec tout ce qui se dit pour Cuba qu'il manque de tout . J'avais su que cette Hôtel avait été rénové dernièrement et c'est vraiment très bien pour un des plus vieux hôtel de Trinidad. La Réception c'est très, très bien passé avec Daniella avec son magnifique sourire et Migel qu'il m'a donné un excellent service jusqu'à ma chambre. Tout le personnel est Super gentil. A ma grande surprise j'ai un une magnifique grande chambre dans le section Bungalow avec vue sur la mer avec un petit salon et deux air Climatisées. Mais oui c'est Cuba mon coffre-fort fonctionnait pas et la toilette non plus mais rapidement ont ils m'ont envoyé une personne très gentille pour fair la réparation. La nourriture est très bien et de bonne qualité, tout est très propre . La plage c'est plutôt ordinaire mais sympathique avec amplement de chaises . Je vous recommande cette belle et charmante hôtel et surtout d'aller visiter la magnifique ville de Trinidad à 15 minutes en taxi ou en autobus de jours. Bonne vacances !
