Almost perfect (save for an unfortunate experience at Grual, the Hotel's fine-dining restaurant), this was one of our favourite spa breaks in a long time. We spent 2 nights at Lefay in June/July celebrating my partner's birthday. We were appointed an immaculate room on the corner of the 4th floor, looking out to the beautiful valley and mountain views. The rooms are serene and well-equipped with everything you might need and are regularly refreshed. They even arranged my partner's large assortment of earrings into neatly aligned pairs. Great attention to detail. The spa is immense, with numerous pools, saunas, dips and steam rooms. The location is perfect for exploring the various trails and natural beauty spots - a visit to Doss del Sabion is a must. The daily complimentary guided hikes are a nice touch, too. Our treatments (we had 3 each in total) were mostly great, including a massage and scrub, although I'd skip the hydrotherapy next time. The staff are helpful and attentive, and on the whole, sing from the same hymn sheet. Unfortunately, our experience at Lefay's high-end 'Grual' restaurant wasn't great. Due to short staffing, our 8-course meal lasted 3 hours and 15 minutes. That's 25 minutes per course. Remember - these are very small courses! Several of the dishes were underwhelming, and one of the menu's highlights was not available and substituted. As the hours passed, we grew increasingly bored and wanted the experience to end. The table next to us sent back two rounds of dishes. Other tables also showed frustration, yet the manager avoided addressing any issues. We voiced our concerns to the waiter, who was candidly honest about the situation, but the manager never made any apology or effort to remedy the experience. The supposed strict dress code I was warned about (seriously) at the front desk upon arrival wasn't enforced, as the family, including two young children next to me were decked out in sports attire and tracksuits. Either have the rule or don't. For an expensive meal, this was a pretty dire experience - which remains the only low point of what was otherwise an wonderful two days at Lefay. In short: Stay for the spa, avoid the restaurant.
