Red lantern Inn gives the best service among all the hotels I’d stayed so far in China. The owner and his wife picked me up from the Train station 20 min away. The location is superb, inside the old city and located just 5 min walk from the North Gate. The Mansion is so beautiful and well kept for hundreds years old building unless you like everything new or modern.
The best part is Xiao Lei, the sweet and polite inn keeper who’s extremely helpful although we had to use Google translator to communicate. He goes all out of his ways to do anything to make your stay comfortable and your visit enjoyable. He cannot explain how to but the ticket for the Old city, so he walks with me to the office. He also drives an electric truck to deliver my luggages to the north gate and call the taxi for me to the airport.
I’ll definitely come back to stay here if I come visit Pingyaogucheng again. I completely recommend this inn to everyone.

The hotel is right in the middle of the ancient city, which is great for walking around.
Keep in mind you will need to take your luggage from the west gate to the hotel by foot as the taxis can't enter and the hotel is in a pedestrian street.
The rooms have a glass wall to the courtyard that lets you take in the views and you can draw the curtains close for more privacy. We had a corner room and it was very comfortable.
Breakfast had few options, but it was very tasty.
The bathroom needed a new curtain that didn't smell, but that is our only complaint and likely an oversight.
All in all a great place to stay when visiting Pingyao ancient city.

Very very nice stay, Mr Li and Mrs Li were very hospitable and welcoming. Mrs Li makes a very nice local breakfast that is a great start to the day. The property is at a quiet corner within the old city, very near the main sights but yet nice and quiet and night. Room was clean and comfortable. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed my Stay at the Xianya Elswhere Hotel. When I arrived I was greeted warmly by the staff and they immediately helped me to plan my weekend (must sees and restaurants to try). The room was very nice and clean and all the facilities were great!
I left early in the morning and the staff helped me to arrange a ride to the train station, really amazing service! Would recommend this place to everyone!

When you come to Pingyao, you must stay in the old courtyard, the big earthen kang, the former residence of the old shopkeeper. I am honored to have chosen the old house. This hotel is very nice, very quiet and very well situated in the old city. We had a very pleasant and good night. And the best is still the personnel/owners that are very helpful and kind. Thank to them we have been able to retrieve a bag that we forgot in then train ! Also there are traditional costume to make very nice pictures and they offer nice gifts. Everything’s just perfect here.

It is one kind of scenery during the day, and it is another kind of scenery when you come back from the busiest main street and enter the courtyard at night. It is really beautiful, absolutely stunning. I took a lot of great photos in the courtyard, and I didn't have to retouch them. The courtyard was really comfortable and quiet. It was really leisurely to have a cup of tea in the courtyard and enjoy this moment of tranquility. Every detail in the room of this store is really pleasing. The beautiful boss will stand from the perspective of the guests to prepare everything in the room. This trip to Pingyao Ancient City is really worth it. When you come to Pingyao, you must stay in the courtyard of the beautiful sister's house, which is also an ancient courtyard with a history of the Qing Dynasty.

MMayawangguoThe room was beyond my expectation and the service was even more beyond my expectation. In fact, the hostel is very close to the City God Temple and the Confucian Temple, but because we arrived at night, we were a little disoriented. The landlord is very cute and friendly, and the auntie who makes breakfast in the morning is also kind. The key point is that the food in the landlord’s restaurant is also super delicious. Even though I am a person who never gets jealous, I can actually finish their local dishes. I especially recommend their grilled pork belly, it is so delicious! The restaurant owner was also very nice, enthusiastic and amiable. The drinking water and wet wipes on the table really made me feel warm. I didn’t take pictures of the room, but I did take some pictures of the dishes. It was my first time in Pingyao Ancient City. GGuest UserWhat an incredible hotel. The location is perfect - right in the middle of the old town so you can easily see all of the key sites in 1 day. Plenty of places to eat and drink nearby but also quiet at night.
The hotel itself beautiful, with a lovely courtyard and nice rooms. Very comfortable with good air conditioning.
The absolute best thing about the hotel is the staff. We were treated so warmly and with such kindness. They gave us free water and a map when we arrived, and marked out the key places to see in city. We are vegetarian, which is pretty challenging in China but they made us a very tasty breakfast. They also allowed us to check in a bit early and out a little late, which was really appreciated.
We loved our stay here and would strongly recommend to anyone.
