We’re spent 2 nights here away from the kids. Enjoyed the lobby menu our first night. Great cocktails, we ordered 3 different food items-flatbread, wings & guac. All great!!! We had lunch poolside and enjoyed all the food and drinks there!! Also a good spot to get a draft beer. They don’t have draft beer in the lobby. All in all pretty good. Here are things that are meh. The fridge in our room are was for a mini bar that does not allow for anything extra. This was a problem for us and would have been a bigger issue if we had our kids. My issue with this was I had limited space to store my breast milk. The other meh was the adult pool area bad no cushions on the chairs unless they came with the cabana. At the other twos pools all the chairs had cushion. Using the hand rail was hard to utilize as it was scorching hot. They did not have a cover on it to cool the temp as most pools do. I’m sure it’s not LUXURY to have the cover but if we had our kids that would have been nice. One slide. One hot tub. Lastly. Our room key would not work to get us access out of the garage. We had to phone security everytime we came or went. We actually had to call the hotel to get out one time. All little things but could it would have been a great stay rather then a good stay. Food was great. Servers/attendants were friendly and nice.

I took my team of 7 here and rented an exec suite to use the living area for meetings. Set up was perfect and the hotel and non room facilities are great. However, I woke up the first morning to 3 large roaches in my bedroom. I went straight to the front desk and the attendant seemed annoyed. I stressed I needed things dealt with before my meeting at 8:30 and I only received an “I understand”. Housekeeping came at 11 and I had to turn them away as it was mid team meeting. Fast forward to departure and I had two charges not at all related to my stay. Spent 30 mins on a call, and those were removed, only to get a new bill with a new random charge. I’ve been trying for 5 days to get it removed and no one responds (all emails on their website are full, Bonvoy has not responded, and the front desk at the Phoenician can’t find the folio). Oh, and they removed the stay from my Bonvoy account so I also now have no credit or points from the stay. Super disappointed about the service and quality, especially given the roach infestation and no acknowledgement or apology, just overcharging.

The most appalling experience of my professional career. As a home-based travel business owner with over 20 years in the industry, I’ve dedicated my life to excellence and service. Yet during a recent Educational Stay, I was subjected to racial profiling, discrimination due to my disability, and the exclusion of my service animals from public areas of the property. While on the property I was given low quality meals that made me ill. No report was taken. I visited the resort as an official representative, with Kirsten Smith assigned as my point of contact. What should have been a professional development experience became a deeply distressing ordeal. After raising my concerns directly with the hotel, I was informed that the staff had indeed failed me. I’ve since taken action by contacting legal representation and the Department of Justice regarding the unjust treatment I received. Discrimination has no place in travel—and I won’t remain silent.

The Phoenician Resort is undeniably stunning, from the breathtaking mountain views near our hotel room to the beautifully landscaped grounds, multiple pool options, and towering palm trees that truly make the resort feel like a desert oasis. However, while the scenery impressed us, several aspects of our stay fell short, especially when compared to other top resorts in the Phoenix area. Dining & Amenities: One major concern was the limited dining hours. Most on-site restaurants closed by 5:00 PM, with The Tavern being the only option open until 8:00 PM. As out-of-town guests, this left us with little choice in the evenings aside from room service or ordering out. We expected more flexibility and variety in a luxury resort. Shops & Pool Experience: All shops on the property also closed early at 5:00 PM, and pool amenities, including the water slide, music, bar, and even the water fountains, were shut down around the same time. This was disappointing, as the pool is typically a hub of activity and relaxation, especially in the summer. Children's Activities: We were especially let down by the Funicians Kids Club, which was never open during our stay. This was a major reason we selected the Phoenician, and our children were incredibly disappointed by its unavailability. Summer Activities: We appreciated the advertised “Legendary Summers” theme, but there were no events scheduled during the weekdays only on the weekends. Other Phoenix-area resorts we’ve visited provide daily family-friendly activities all summer long, so the lack of weekday activities was a letdown. Overall, while the resort is visually impressive and offers a serene setting, we felt the guest experience didn’t fully match the high rating and reputation. With a few key improvements especially around extended hours, family activities, and consistent activites the Phoenician could offer a truly legendary experience to match its branding.

We booked a one-night stay at The Phoenician to celebrate our daughter’s milestone 30th birthday. During the reservation process, a team member named Cooper warmly offered to make the occasion extra special by sending thoughtful birthday surprises to her room. He asked what kind of flowers and cake she liked, and expressed genuine excitement about helping us create a memorable experience. At no point were prices mentioned—everything was framed as a complimentary gesture in honor of the celebration. When our daughter checked in, however, there were no birthday items in her room. Only after dinner did we return to find pastries, a fruit platter, balloons, a birthday card, and a bottle of vodka—despite having mentioned that our daughter does not drink alcohol. Upon checkout, I discovered a $171.58 room service charge for these items. This charge came as a complete surprise, as there had been no prior discussion or agreement about costs. I reached out to the hotel team and received a polite response that framed these amenities as requested and priced accordingly, referencing a conversation on June 30th. However, that conversation never involved pricing, and we never explicitly ordered anything—Cooper had simply offered to help us celebrate. As a former employee of The Phoenician nearly three decades ago, I was disheartened by how this situation unfolded. What was meant to be a heartfelt gesture turned into an uncomfortable misunderstanding and an unexpected expense. I hope management reflects on this experience and takes steps to ensure future communications with guests are more transparent and aligned with the spirit of hospitality.

The experience was great. Special recognition to Desi, Devin, Elba, Hector, Jordan, Kennedy, Al, Ahmet, Jorge, Christian, Shelly, Kathy ar Mowry and Cotton. We also appreciated Gennaro at the pool. It is because of people like these that we visit multiple times annually.

Hello Fellow Travelers, I just did a Spa Stay Over to do a "me" day which was well needed and hard worked for; however, it ended with billing frustration. The room and spa was excellent. The billing was incorrect in many ways. First, I had to ask for receipts and an itemized bill for both the hotel and spa. Travelers I cannot stress enough how important this is as there a mistake on both billings. I was double charged and their J&G Steak House and the spa did not credit my gift certificate. If I didn't keep recepts or request a itemized billing, this might have been overlooked. I am now in contact with customer service to get this corrected and will let you know if it is handled as quickly as they took my money. Bottom line, be aware and take receipts and ask for the itemized billing. this is something you would never expect for a 5 Star Resort. Rose

Nice 5 days at the Phoenician first week of June, fun, clean, great service and quiet during our time there. Tried most restaurants and all were great for service and food. Joe and Sara by the pool, kept us happy and cool, as well as giving some great local stops!
