Kings Arms

My husband and I arrived after a long day travelling at 3pm. We asked for food and were told the kitchen was closed until 5pm, not even offered a sandwich. We were then told that breakfast was finished at 9 and checkout 10. We said that this seemed very early and were told that they’d a busy day the next day, with it being Mother’s Day, and they had to get the rooms cleaned. Check in is 4pm and they have 5 rooms to clean if full occupancy! We put our bags in the room and decided to go in search of something to eat. When we came through the bar on our way out the lady very loudly said that my husband had only booked and paid for 1 person. He’d booked a king size bed so this was obviously a mistake. There were people in the bar and she advised very loudly that we’d only paid for one and that she’d have to have a chat with us about this later. We went to get something to eat and decided that we had not been welcomed in any way, in fact the lady was downright rude. So we decided to forego our payment and leave and stay elsewhere! We knew that having to listen to her shrill rude voice for the evening was not worth the fee we’d already paid!

Really nice lunch of gammon egg chips peas and pineapple, washed down with some real ale(proper job)and a soda and lime.the price was very reasonable, the staff where excellent and very pleasant. This was after a morning on the coastal road.

I started this review earlier but seemed to restricted by length. We arrived, our booking could not initially be found. We booked dinner, again this couldn’t be found. A drinks order was taken. Menus provided and order submitted; it took 45 minutes to serve (the kitchen was very busy and ur was very hot in the kitchen); this was their explanation, I kid you not. We had an early start the following morning, and had booked breakfast accordingly; the chef wasn’t in, the toaster blew the fuse board so no hot food available! Never again.
