Ostal Pau Universite, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western

Bonne expérience. Petit déjeuner parfait.

After a very difficult experience at another hotel in Pau, I was left outside in the sun, exhausted and trying to find a safe place to stay. I am disabled and cannot manage stairs easily, and the previous place had put me on the 5th floor with a broken elevator. Things felt overwhelming until I arrived at Ostal Pau University Sure Hotel. From the moment we arrived, Daniela and Tibra went far above and beyond anything I could have hoped for. They didn’t just check me in—they made sure I was comfortable, safe, and cared for. They placed me on the ground floor so I wouldn’t have to tackle stairs, helped store perishable food in the refrigerator, and even assisted in other small ways to make my arrival easier. Their warmth, kindness, and generosity made a huge difference during a stressful time. They welcomed my son and me with compassion and care, showing genuine humanity in every interaction. Their extraordinary hospitality turned what could have been a difficult experience into one I will always remember with gratitude. I hope the management and ownership of this property recognize how valuable Daniela and Tibra are to their team. Fab hotel - perfect for a stopover. The receptionist was super helpful and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable and parking was free We drove the 10 minutes to the Boulevard des Pyrenees for dinner but there looked to be places to eat within easy walking distance of the hotel.

The greeting from Joanne, on reception, was most appreciated. After a long motorbike ride, she made me feel very welcome. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. I like a firm mattress. I only stayed for 1 night but should l be in the area again l will most certainly see if they have any room. Merci!

Excellent location, staff es super helpful made us feel like home. Parking onsite. We had a short stay and there were 5 of us so the price was super affordable. To visit the center of the city you need to drive in a straight line for few minutes and parking is very close to everything.

Terrible manager. When we arrived he was shouting at a young woman & wouldn’t stop. Then it came to our time to deal with him. We asked why the cost was more than the detailed tariff on the reception desk. Big mistake! He staring going on for a long time saying he has to pay 10% commission to ******* etc. We tried to stop him & say that’s fine we understand (though we felt it was not fair). It was hard to stop him even saying 4 times “May we pay now please, we have had a long drive). Also we paid for a triple room on the basis that it was bigger, but he wouldn’t give it as we are just a couple. No reduction for the double he gave us. It wasn’t a great room (photos below). NO WIFI. We took a big breath & went down to ask the manager why no wifi. He went on a long tirade about wifi companies. The scam this hotel has is that you have to receive an email to access the wifi. Of course you can’t do that without wifi. My husband tried this and put his 4G on to get the email but guess what, no access to wifi even with getting the email. Paint issues in the room & horrible old coat hangar thing. Last issue. There was insects in the room (or bed!?). When I lay down in the bed I got these bites. In total we had the worst night we have had ever!! Tonight we are in an NH hotel in San Sebastián in Spain and it is Perfect 10/10!
