Afonso Guest House

We stayed at Afonso for 2N/3D. It’s very peaceful and covered by beautiful greenery carefully curated and maintained by Mr. Clifton. Mrs. Janet is also very caring and nice person. Will surely recommend this place for those who want to experience old Goa charm in Fontainhas.

A fantastic little laid-back find in a beautiful building, on a charming street, run by the wonderful and consummate hosts Clifton and Jeanette. The rooms are simple, but exceptionally clean, with good AC, comfortable and quiet, at least where we were on the upper floor. In-house laundry service is good, and at a fair price. The tasty breakfasts were enjoyed on the serene rooftop patio surrounded by beautiful plants and served by the wonderful, and warm, Kaveri. We had freshly squeezed passion fruit one morning, direct from the vine. The location was ideal for walking around the historic Portuguese houses and is surrounded by plenty of nice restaurants and cafés.

This is such a lovely quaint place right in the heart of Panjim, very convenient. This place is like home, neat & super clean. Beds are comfortable, bathroom/toilet is clean. No mosquitos. the place is done up so tastefully. Jeanette is such a lovely host and always helpful. Clifton has made a beautiful botanical garden, so mesmerizing.

We had a wonderful time at the Afonso Guest House! We arrived in the early hours of the morning and owner Jeanette arranged for a driver to meet us at the airport and let us in to the guest house before breakfast. Jeanette her son Clifton and their staff were extremely helpful and friendly throughout our stay - no question or request was too much! The guest house was simple but comfortable and spotlessly clean with a cool shady roof terrace. The area of Fontainhas is full of beautiful historic Portuguese - era buildings and some lovely cafes and restaurants. Other areas of Panaji are an easy walk / tuk tuk or taxi ride away. We would heartily recommend the Afonso Guest House! Thank you Jeanette, Clifton and team for making our stay in Panaji so enjoyable!

A charming, quiet, and beautiful guesthouse in historic Fontainhas, the old Latin Quarter. It is within walking distance of most of the sites in old Panjim, as well as the floating casinos if you're a gambler. The proprietors, Jeanette Afonso and her son Clifton, are friendly and helpful, even with last minute taxi arrangements. Breakfast on the plant-filled terrace provides views as well as excellent coffee and poee bread with your omelet. The neighborhood, because it is beautiful, does get a fair number of walking tours and wedding shoots (or couples just into themselves enough to hire a team of photographers to follow them around), but that doesn't distract from its charm. Besides, in ten minutes you can be gawking at the Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, browsing for books in Singbal's Book House, or eating puri bhaji at Cafe Tato.

We’d love to stay here again, it really was perfect in every way. Incredible staff and wonderful breakfast. The location is brilliant for walking around the most interesting area of Panjim. The room was very comfortable, it did feel like a home from home!
